  1. I have a dual gate MM502 model, the openers measure about 42" in length from bolt to bolt. Will the MM272 fit?

  2. Does the gate automatically close after a certain time limit

    1. This gate opener does have an auto-close time setting that can be used. You can set the unit to close automatically from 3 to 120 seconds.

  3. We live in a windy area. The gate openers we currently have the casings cracked the first year and had to replace. Long story short, they cracked again. How does the mighty mule stand up to windy areas

    1. Wind speeds will effect an item that will open and close. If you live in an area that will have high winds it is recommended to upgrade to a medium or heavy duty gate opener.

  4. Does 12' mean per gate on the dual opener? Meaning 24' in total length?

    1. This gate opener will work with a gate that is up to 12 ft. or 300 lbs. per side.

  5. Can it be wired direct to a constant electric source, or is direct to 12v battery the only way? Also, does it have a release lever/switch in case the power source is lost?

    1. This can be wired to a 120V indoor transformer instead of a solar power source, as long as the power source is located within 1000' of the opener. A 12V battery is still required to run the gate though. Complete installation instructions can be found in the product manual. To manually open the gate, the control box power switch needs to be turned to the OFF position. Next, remove the hairpin clip, clevis pin and bushing from either the front or rear mounting point. Then remove the operator from the mount.

  6. do you need a power supply for both sides or do you have to run a wire from one side to the other

    1. Only one power supply is needed, the wire is run under ground to the other side.

    1. This gate opener kit requires a 12V DC automotive, lawn tractor, or deep cycle marine battery.
