  1. We have some trees blocking our panel. Will a larger panel help?

    1. A larger panel, like a 30 watt or 60 watt would work better if you have trees blocking the sun, as they would capture more power from the sun. The best solution would be to relocate the panel to full sun if possible.

  2. The description says 12 V but there is a paper in the box that says 18 V which one is it?

    1. This is a 10-watt panel designed for use with 12V gate openers. The panel’s open-circuit voltage is approximately 18V, as noted on the box, but its built-in controller regulates the voltage down to the 12V needed for your gate battery.

  6. How long will the solar panel last before it will need to be replaced?

    I'm curious if it's worth buying the solar panel and battery for the mighty mule gate opener? I know the battery will fail eventually but I'm not sure how years I will get out of the solar panel?

    1. The average life span of a monocrystalline solar panel is 25-30 years.
