The Maxx Air 18in. Exhaust Fan can be used in a garage, barn, greenhouse, warehouse, and a variety of other agricultural and industrial locations to quickly remove unwanted odors, dust and humidity, and refresh stale or warm air in your space. This ventilation fan is constructed of a sturdy 20 gauge steel housing with aluminum louvered shutter, a safety grille and a totally enclosed, thermally protected motor. Arrives fully assembled, just mount to your desired building wall and wire into your electrical system to complete installation.

    Can this be mounted vertically say, in a ceiling rather than horizontally in a wall? I just dont want the louvers open all the time if i mount it this way.

    1. I think you would probably have a problem with rain getting in since the louvers aren't water tight. Maybe you could use something like a saucer sled as a rain cap but then you are redesigning the whole fan. They make fans designed to mount on the roof already.

    2. This unit was not designed to be mounted horizontally in a ceiling. When this fan is mounted vertically in a wall, the airflow created by the fan provides pressure adequate to make the louvers open. If mounted horizontally (in a ceiling), the force of gravity would cause increased resistance on the louvers forcing them to stay shut.

  3. Can I attach vent duct to this fan?

    I want to run the intake for the fan through a small amount of ducting so I can vent a laser cutter as well as the rest of the workshop with this fan. Is there a way to attach metal vent ducting?

    1. the shutters are spring loaded and open upon switch activation

    1. At 3000 CFM, this exhaust fan would cover approximately 300 square feet. The cubic feet would be determined by dividing the height of the ceiling into the square footage.

    1. This wall exhaust fan needs to mounted to a wall. The air being drawn in is what pushes the shutters open.

  9. How safe would it be to install in an area with a large propane tank and generator?

    1. If the fan would be exhausting any flammable fumes, it would would not be safe to mount it in the vicinity of the propane tank.

    1. This fan would not be safe to use around paint. You would want an explosion proof exhaust fan, such as item #14771.
