Justrite’s patented manifold and proportional flow-control Safe-Squeeze® trigger provides you the means to regulate the flow rate when handling flammable liquids. Fill port with ergonomic lift lever makes filling easy. Flexible 9in. (229-mm) long metal hose spout helps control the pour into small openings. Made from high-grade coated steel, each can is pressure tested to ensure quality. The tough powder-coat finish resists chemicals and stands up to demands of rigorous use. Stainless steel flame arrester—equipped in all Justrite safety cans— dissipates heat to stop flashback ignition. Sealed lid features automatic positive pressure relief that vents between 3 and 5 psig (0.2 and 0.35 bar) to protect against explosion. Large label ID zone provides writing space to identity contents, department location, or individual user name. All can sizes have extra capacity for adding two-cycle engine oil or other additives. Certified by FM, UL/ULC, and TUV, Justrite safety cans also meet OSHA and NFPA requirements, and come with a ten-year warranty.

  1. Can I put a 5/8" nozzle on a can that comes with a 1" nozzle?

    1. Yes, you can interchange the different hoses on our type two safety cans. The Item# 11077 is the 1" and the 11078 is the 5/8" hose.

  2. Just got 2.5 gallon can. The silver handle was not attached and the cotter pin does not hold handle.

    1. Maintenance for Type 2 cans is minimal, but there are some recommended best practices to ensure the can remains in working order. Check the condition of the flame arrestor regularly for damage or holes. Replace damaged flame arrestor screens immediately. Regularly inspect can for punctures or dents.

    1. Outer diameter. The hose dimensions are 9 inches L by 1-inch outer diameter.

  6. Do I need to practice grounding and bonding while transferring flammable liquids from a safety can into smaller glass or metal container?

    1. We always recommend bonding and grounding safety cans while dispensing, to prevent the buildup of statuc electricity. Static electricity is the formation of electrical charge which carries the risk of creating a spark. Attach anti-static wires with clips at each end to the safety can, the receiving container and a grounding point. These connections will ensure that any charge buildup dissipates to ground before generating a spark. Additionally, OSHA 1910.106(e)(6)(ii) satates you must ground and bond all containers of luiqids with a flashpoint of 100 F or less - though the flexible nozzle of a Type II safety can does serve as an effective bonding connection.

  7. What is the difference in a Type I & Type II Safety Can?

    1. The Type I Safety Can has one opening that serves for both filling and dispensing. The Type II Safety Can has one opening dedicated to filling and a second spout opening dedicated to dispensing. The Type II Safety Can comes with an attached flexible hose and our exclusive AccuFlow™ manifold with Safe-Squeeze® trigger handle to provide the smooth and controlled pouring.

  8. Do you have to tip the can to pour? Or does it pour upright?

    1. You have to tip the can to pour, but it's easy using the lip on the bottom of the can.

  9. Is there a way to disengage the spring that automatically shuts the cap opening? I need another person to hold the lid open to pour gas into it.

    1. The spring is part of the can's design and meets all compliance approvals (FM, TUV, UL, etc). The can does not have the ability to disengage the spring. The can is designed to seal if it is tipped over.

  10. Can you purchase replacement parts? I need the 1-inch flexible metal hose.
