    10. It came with the coupler on the compressor. The fittings we are using to connect to it are 1/4" NPT, 1/4" Body.

  2. I just unpackaged this compressor and set it up in my garage. Its quiet. How long should it take to build working pressure the first time.?

    It is not building pressure according to the main guage.

    1. Make sure the drain valve at the bottom of the tank is closed. Otherwise it should start building pressure immediately.

    2. Mine starting building pressure immediately. I assembled the wheels and handles, put the oil in, plugged it in and pushed the switch to the on position. It started compressing air immediately. It took a couple of minutes to shut off.

    3. it should build pressure right away. Mine only took a minute or so to fill up.

    4. First check the pump head to see if there is a plug in the air intake. This would need to be removed if you haven't already. Second thing to do is to hit the reset button on the motor. Third if you have it connected to an extension cord, remove it and plug directly into the wall.

    is there a " break in " time to change the oil? my book says 2000 hours or 12 mo.

    3. Being synthetic oil is used in the Ingersoll Rand Garage Mate Air Compressor, a "break in" oil change is not needed.

  4. How easily can I hook an expansion tank to this compressor?

    none

    1. Very easy as there is a plug on the side of the tank just for this very purpose.

    2. Adding an expansion tank would be as easy as any other unit. You would come off the output fitting of this compressor with a line to your secondary tank. Then all of your tools would come off of the secondary tank. Presumably, you would put an additional regulator with water drain after your secondary tank.

    3. You can hook up an expansion tank to this compressor. The auxiliary tank would have to be piped in with a hose or hard piping. Removal of the service connection may be required.

  5. can this unit be rewired to run on 230 volts?

    I purchased this unit from you last year and would like to now run it on 230 volts rather than 115. Can this unit be rewired to operate on 230 volts?

    1. Rewiring this Ingersoll Rand Garage Mate Air Compressor would void your warranty and is not recommended.

    2. I had same question. According to name plate/spec. plate on my unit the motor is 120 volt only.

    3. No it can not. The motor was not designed to run both. Units that are designed to run both are actualy 230 volts motors that are not heavy so 115 will turn it. If you run it off a 230 you will burn it out because the wiring inside the motor is not designed to handle than much power.

    Hi, I'm gonna paint my car, I bought an orbital sander. Could You tell me if this air compressor has enough air flow to run it.

    1. You need to determine what volume of air is required by your sander. If the sanders requirement is less than the compressor spec, then you should be good. If the sander requires more air than this compressor can deliver, you'll need a compressor that delivers the required volume of air at its rated duty cycle. Some compressors are rated of 100% run time and other are as low as 30%. This is the compressors duty cycle.

    2. Depends on how much the air the sander uses. Some use LOTS of air some you can run it on this compresoor so depends on what the cfm is on your specific sander but chances are it will.

    3. This air compressor will give you 5.2 CFM at 90 PSI or 4.6 CFM at 135 PSI. You would need to check the CFM and PSI requirement of the orbital sander you purchased to see if this compressor would cover the tools requirements.
