Product Summary

This 14in. x 40in. Big Bore Gunsmithing Lathe has a huge 2in. spindle bore - the largest of any of our 14in. x 40in. lathes - perfect for gunsmithing larger diameter barrels. It also includes one of the finest X/Z-axis DROs on the market today. It's jam-packed with other great features: an 8-speed gearhead for spindle speeds from 70–2000 RPM, a D1-5 camlock spindle, 200-series quick-change tool post, flood coolant system, LED worklight, pull-out chip tray, ball-bearing steady and follow rests, cast iron stand, and safety foot brake! To top it off, the outboard end of the spindle has a "spider" mount system - great for stabilizing long shafts and rifle barrels. Specifications:

This lathe includes several accessories, including a quick change toolpost w/holder, toolbox, 8" four jaw chuck w/key, oil bottle, spindle wrench, end gears, and screwdrivers. We suggest referring to page 17 of the manual for a full list of included accessories.

      1. We appreciate your question. The lathe reverses the direction of the leadscrew or feed rod (and thus the carriage movement) without changing the spindle rotation. It is commonly used for left-hand threading.

      1. Thanks for your question. Your machine has a D1-5 spindle and is compatible with chucks that fit that spindle. Our T10414 collet chuck is compatible.

    7. one of the most popular barrel threads is 1/2 x 28. Please confirm this lathe can cut a 28 tpi thread as i could not find this in the G0824 manual.

    8. Is this a gap bed lathe? there appears to be a gap in the photos but the spec list doesn't specify that. please clarify this.

      1. Thank you for getting in touch with us. The metal lathe cannot be converted to 3-phase; you would need to purchase a 3-phase machine. The taper attachment required for your lathe is the T10502 Taper Attachment. For a 3-phase equivalent, the G0509G Metal Lathe is suitable and uses the T10096 Taper Attachment. To add a DRO, you can use the T33008 Lathe DRO.
