  1. Automatically cut off when nozzle is reinserted.

    Does this unit automatically shut off when nozzle is re-inserted into holder after fuel is dispensed?

    1. The Fill-Rite Transfer Pump will turn its pump motor off when the nozzle is fully inserted back into the nozzle holder.

    2. Thanks for the question.

      The pump has an on/off lever positioned where the nozzle hangs up. When you remove the nozzle from the nozzle boot (or holder), you will need to flip the on/off lever up to turn on the pump. If you hang the nozzle up after you are done dispensing fuel and don't manually flip the on/off lever back down, the nozzle will push the lever down and turn off the motor.

  2. Can this be used to transfer Methanol?

    1. The pump is ok for pumping Methanol. Ethanol would require a kit to convert the gaskets. The pump should be run at least 3 or 4 times a week to prevent water from building up in the pump.

      From a compatibility standpoint, the pump is ok for pumping Methanol.

      Ethanol would require a kit to convert the gaskets.

      When pumping Methanol (or Ethanol for that matter), one issue that I have seen is water being pulled into the pump because of the Methanol. If you do not run the pump often, water will build up in the pump, and cause the cast iron to rust. The pump should be run at least 3 or 4 times a week to prevent water from building up in the pump.

      Once the cast iron starts to rust, the pump will lock up and will not run any longer.

      If you are going to use the pump for this purpose, please run it often enough to keep the water out.

    1. The Fill-Rite model FR711VA features a 2-inch bung mount, a 4-digit mechanical meter, an 18-foot static-wire hose, a high-flow Automatic Diesel Nozzle, a 1" NPT Street Elbow, and a roll of PTFE Tape.
