  1. Good for Rock Salt?

    Has anyone used the spreader for both seed and rock salt / ice melt? My current spreader locks up when I'm using rock salt.

    1. Yes, bagged material rock salt can be used in this unit.
      If you have issues with it locking up simply remove the agitator wire and replace it with weed eater string so that you do not cause damage to the gears in the transmission.

    2. This Brinly-Hardy Broadcast Spreader will work with bagged rock salt. Due to uncontrollable moisture content, rock salt and other spreadable material purchased in bulk, is not recommended for use.

  9. How does the autoflow feature work? Does it just stop spinning or does it stop any material from dropping out of the hopper?

    1. The Gage Plate Assembly operates the Flow Control Gate. The Gage Plate is marked from 0 (closed) to 10(fully open). The position selected determines the amount of material to be broadcast. The higher the number, the heavier the application of material. This is not an automatic feature and would need to be manually set to the desired position. The Fan speed and the spread width are controlled by the
      speed of the vehicle. The recommended operating speed is slightly faster than that of a brisk walk, approximately 3 MPH.
