  1. Can this spread lime in powder form?

    1. The way I do is is to mix the lime with a granulated fertilizer and the lime. To lower the ph you need to test soil.

    2. The Farm Star 3-Pt spreader will spread lime in powder form as long as the optional agitator attachment is used. This is available through our parts department. The item number is WK420725.

  3. How do you adjust the setting to determine rate per acres

    1. The spread per acre is determined by the type of fertilizer, spread width, tractor speed and control lever setting. A spreading chart is included in the manual on page 7.

    1. This will ship assembled except for the PTO. The PTO shaft may need to be shortened to match your tractor.

    1. This is equipped with easy shift lever that controls full, right or left side spreading action. The spreader does not contain any parts made of stainless steel.

    1. This spreader can be used with ultra dry sand. If there is any moisture in the sand, it will cause damage to the spreader and its components.

  9. What is the PTO HP rating for this spreader?

    1. This spreader does not have a required PTO HP rating. However, it is designed to run on a standard 540 RPM drive and connect to a male 1-3/8", 6 spline PTO.

  10. Will this spread salt ?

    1. Although this spreader is not recommended/designed to spread salt, it could be used for that purpose provided it's cleaned thoroughly after salt applications. Proper cleaning after spreading salt includes: washing the spreader to remove the salt, allowing it to dry, and oiling the (seed) plates. Salt will cause corrosion to the spreader if it's not cleaned properly. Northern carries spreaders (along with a 3-pt. hitch kit) made specifically for salt.
