  3. Can I spread Caseron?

    I burned up two of the Scott's hand held whirly bird type of fertilizer spreaders spreading Caseron. I have about an acre of gravel that needs this or another pre-emergent spread and broadcasting by hand it too tedious and not consistent.

    Given that the two Scotts devices couldn't handle something about Caseron I want to make sure that type of granual will work with this spreader.

    3. Dear Numbercruncher - Thank you for your interest in the Agri-Fab drop spreader. A drop spreader is best for granular herbicide such as Casoron. In addition a drop spreader is better for grass seed applications and good for fertilizer if the yard has ornamental beds.

  4. Will the auger handle wet granular material or will it jam up with this unit?

    1. there is not much clearance between the auger and the sidewalls. maybe 1/4 inch. it would probably stick if it was very wet

    2. This Agri-fab tow behind drop seeder would need to be used with dry granular material. Wet materials tend to clump and may cause the auger to jam.

  5. Types of seed that it spreads

    Is this capable of spreading larger seed such as soy bean or peas

    1. it does not have very much room between the auger and sidewalls, it looks to me like it may grind up soy bean seed a bit.

    2. Virginia thank you for considering the Agri-Fab Drop Spreader for your lawn care needs. Unfortunately, larger seeds such as soy beans or peas will not work with the drop spreader. The drop spreader will work best with product that is no larger than a piece of rock salt or smaller.

  6. Will it spread Lime?

    1. only very dry lime. i ran bagged hydrated through mine, i had to keep a broom handle on the tractor and poke it every so often. if it has any moisture to it at all, dont try it.

    Can I shovel horse manure into this spreader and then spread it? Or is horse manure too large?

    1. Probably not a god idea. This is for spreading fertilizer.

Agri-Fab recommends you do not attempt to spread any item that has a high moisture content; this causes the spreader to bind up and reduces product life. Drop spreaders are best suited for granular herbicides, fertilizer; especially if your lawn has ornamental beds and grass seed.

    The lime is about like coarse sand. I have it delivered in bulk and need to spread it.
