Power supply comes in at the top or bottom of post?
Does the power supply for this lift need to come in at the top of the post or ran along the floor?
-
20YearPro· 8 years ago
The power can come from any angle. However, running it from the floor would pose a serious trip hazard not to mention if you drop a tire or heavy tool on it. Overhead is really the safest/best means. You are probably going to have a tough time meeting code running the power on the floor.

On the asymmetrical design is possible to swap column s so the power supply can be on the left side
-
20YearPro· 8 years ago
Nope, according to Bendpak the power unit can only be installed on the one side for the Asymmetric lift. The symmetric can have the power unit on either side.

Advantages/Disadvantages
I see in asymetric it says configurations are:
Narrow configuration: 93; Wide configuration: 106Other than more space between posts for driving in what is advantages/disadvantages of having a narrow or wide configuration? Also Does it affect performance of lift?
-
Ranchito· 10 years ago
Unless floor space is an issue, I see no reason to not use the wide configuration. The lift parts are made for either width with no modifications necessary. This unit was certified in the wide setting.

This BendPak asymmetric lift has drive-thru clearances of 89" wide in its narrowest configuration and 102" wide in its widest configuration. There are no other advantages or disadvantages when it's set up narrow or wide; it's solely to give you the varying width option depending on how much space you have. Having it set up in either the narrow or wide configuration doesn't affect or alter the lift's performance at all.

Where is the max rise measured?
I am 72" tall and I noticed that the max rise for this lift is only 69". Is the measurement taken from the concrete to the underside of the lift arm or to the top of one of the lift pads or where? I would not want to have to tip my head to work underneath a vehicle. Thanks
-
AdrianZ· 13 years ago
I bought the Torin 10,000 lb 2-post lift. I measured the 78-inch max rise. It was from the floor to the top of the bubber pads that contact the vehicle. Bear in mind that you need to drop the lift down an inch or 2 from the max rise to engage the safety mechanism before you go under the vehicle.

Could this be used to raise forklifts up as well as cars? What we're looking for is a permanent solution to raise our warehouse forklifts in case of our warehouse flooding.
