  2. What type respirator?

    I usually use a disposable type N95 NIOSH approved respirator for sanding/fiberglass when I sand off bottom paint from my boat. Now I'm using this blaster with Walnut shells instead of sanding. Do I need to use something more than this type respirator while blasting?

    1. Any respirator that would be NIOSH approved for sanding would be good to use with this pressure blaster. The N95 NIOSH would work, please see item 547002.

  3. The manual lists nozzle selections up to 5/16" So is it safe to say I can use up to this size nozzle in this machine assuming CFM is there?

    1. This pressure blaster can be used with nozzles that have an maximum ID of 5/16" provided your compressor produces enough CFM.

    2. Yes. You have a choice of 6 different size nozzles. The nozzle size directly effects the required CFM. The larger the nozzle ID, the more CFM you need.

  4. WIll this operate with a air compressor that make 14 cfm but has 1/4 inch tank outlet?

    1. It is recommended to use a minimum 1/2" ID air line. It would not work with a 1/4" as this would be too restrictive.

    2. Unfortunately no. We recommend a minimum 1/2" ID air line; 1/4" would be too restrictive.

  5. Can I use a very fine grit sand?

    1. The use of sand is not recommended to be used in the abrasive blasters. The dust from using sand is harmful to you. Sand will also collect a lot of moisture and can clog up, therefore, it will not flow properly.

      Sand blasting media is recommended, such as coal slag or glass bead, etc.

    2. We do not recommend sand as an abrasive for any of our Abrasive Blasters. First and foremost, the silica dust is very harmful. Secondly it collects a lot of moisture and can cause abrasive to clog and not flow properly.
      There are different good abrasives you can use, depending on your application. Coal Slag is good for removing paint and rust from steel. Glass Bead will also work but is less agressive and will take longer but will leave a nicer finish.

  6. I have a 185cfm compressor. Is this overpowered?

    Will it harm the machine having too much cfm? I assume I will have to install a pressure reducer and water seperator...

    1. This Allsource 100-lb. Pressure Blaster will not have an issue with the CFM. This unit does have an operating pressure that it is compatible with of 80-110 PSI. You would need to use a pressure regulator to adjust your PSI down if your compressor is set at a higher PSI than 110.

    2. The CFM will be fine for use with this unit. The concern comes in with the PSI rating, as this unit operating pressure is 80-110 psi. If your compressor puts out anything over 110 psi you will have to regulate it down between 80-110 psi. Also, a moistures separator is always a good idea to use with a blaster to help keep the media dry as possible.

  7. What CFM is required to operate this product?

    1. AT LEAST 14.7 CFM

    2. The maximum air consumption of this unit is 125 CFM @ 80 PSI when used with a 5/16" nozzle. The minimum air consumption is 7 CFM @ 80 PSI when used with a 3/32" nozzle. I would recommend using this blaster with a compressor that will provide at least 15 CFM. See links below for more details.

  10. Would installing a 90 degree bend to take the media path horizontal before the media flow control valve allow better flow control? Perhaps an upside down Tee fitting to facilitate clean out.
