Product Summary

The ALC® Soda Abrasive Blast Media is an environmentally friendly abrasive designed for use in soda blast equipment. It is a crystallized version of baking soda that is an alternative to using harsh chemical stripping agents. Soda blast abrasive is excellent for stripping paint off vehicles, boats or other restoration projects. Will not damage glass, chrome or rubber and can be used for all general cleaning jobs. Ideal for cleaning an engine compartment or other equipment. Soda will not pit or warp metal surfaces and offers easy cleanup by just washing away with water. U.S.A.

  2. Cleaning smoke/soot from exterior brick wall

    We are using the ALC 40002, 90#. The wall to clean was affected by smoke coming from interior of building. Is soda the best abrasive option and if not which is better? We have the 1/8 and 1/32 nozzles. Thank you.

    1. This is an effective method used for fire damage restoration. Soda can produce a heavy dust when used indoors, adequate ventilation is recommended.

    Is soda recommend for removing stain and varnish from chairs'

    1. Soda is a very fine material. This would work if you are working with a soft wood. Walnut shell is a recommended choice for use in delicate cleaning operations and renovation of antique or historical items.

    Is soda blast abrasive the best media to use for cleaning unpainted, weathered pressure treated lumber? And if not, what media would be the ideal choice?

    1. You can use bicarbonate of soda for your application. This abrasive is typically used in a pressure blaster and cannot be recycled, as it breaks down on impact. Soda is used to strip paint and light oxidation without etching or warping the surface.

    Can you use soda in a blast n vac that recycles the blast material?

    1. This ALC Soda Blast Abrasive cannot be recycled. The soda is a fine material which normally would disintegrate once used.
