Would this product work as well and be as safe as Walnut Shells when it comes to removing carbon build up in an Engines Cylinder Heads or piston tops?
1 answer-
ProductExpert40· 9 years ago
The corncob media would be just as safe to use as walnut shell but might not be as effective at removing carbon build up from engine cylinder heads or piston tops as the walnut shell media.

Size of media
RCBS sells corn cob media for cleaning pistol brass. I would like to use yours instead but I need to know if the size is appropriate for cleaning pistols brass. When I asked RCBS about the size oof their media they said 16/20 sieve size (whatever that is) and 2.7-3.8 g/cm (whatever THAT is). Can you shed some light on this?
1 answer-
ProductExpert12· 12 years ago
The 16/20 sieve size relates to the mesh size opening per square inch. The size of this media is .053". This media is designed to be used for brass products and other soft material.

type of media
what would be the best media to use for removing Cerakote and/or Duracoat from firearms. Just so you know, Acetone and wire brushes will not take it off.
1 answer-
ProductExpert23· 12 years ago
That would depend on the hardness of the material you are trying to remove. You would have to try a couple of the harder abrasives materials and see which one will give you the desired finish you wish to achieve.
