does NOT have a numbered temperature thermostat. Will certainly hold the temperature close to where you set it, just no numbers

-
ProductExpert30· 9 years ago
This heater has a thermostat that is numbered from 1 to 5. You would set thermostat on high, when desired temperature is reached you would lower thermostat until the flame shuts off. The burner will cycle back on when room temperature drops below the set temperature.

Can you hang it on the wall with the blower fan?
-
Ferd47· 7 years ago
Base upon concerns I read elsewhere, I spaced the bracket out from the wall an additional 1/2" to make sure there was adequate room for intake air for the fan, and it works great.

Does this device connect to a natural gas inlet.

Coach Barry· 4 years ago
I would also suggest installing a manual shut-off valve for safety. After each heating season is over, I turn the gas off via this valve. Makes it easy to remove the heater, if needed.

How to choose b/t this or the 'radiant' version?
This 'blue flame' heater is listed as convection, and the ''Mr. Heater Vent-Free Natural Gas Radiant Wall Heater — 30,000 BTU, 5-Plaque, Model# MHVFRD30NGT'' is listed as radiant, but-- other than that, both heaters have identical BTU outputs, required clearances, optional fan, etc.
So what are the practical differences, ideal applications, and disadvantages or advantages to either type?-
ProductExpert5· 3 years ago
The blue flame style works well to heat the air in the room. Radiant heaters work great for heating objects in the room. Blue flame heaters are most commonly used in garages and the radiant units can be used in a 4-season porch as an example or any sort of area with a lot of items in the room. Both heating styles will work great to heat the room up and it would be a matter of preference on which one would be best. The radiant version of the MHVFB30NGT is Northern Tool + Equipment item number 52570.

Coach Barry· 4 years ago
The blue flame type heat is considered better for areas and rooms that are well insulated. Radiant heat usually better if the room/area is not well insulated. Radiant heat tends to warm objects in the room where blue flame heat warms the air. Our house is well insulated so I purchased the blue flame model and it works great. A note to remember: Before each heating season I clean the pilot light sensor.
