The manufacturer recommends no more than 20 foot of suction pipe. The pump would work much better if you moved it to the creek to shorten the suction and lengthen the discharge. Consider a long extension cord before trying the long suction line. Additionally you should only use a 1" suction line...3/4" will compromise this efficiency of the pump. The elevation of the pump above the creek is not an issue compared to the length of the suction.

Distance from water source
The pump would need to be 100' away from water source. Water source is down a gradual 4' to 6' drop to creek. Could this pump draw the water to the pump that far away with a 3/4" garden house? If not what do you recommend? I will be watering my front and back lawn from creek water if possible.
Thanks,
Craig

I don't think you could use a garden hose as an inlet hose. It is too soft and the suction of the pump would collapse it. I think it could draw water that far, but placing the pump so far from the creek could make initially priming it tricky and you would need a good foot valve. I would recommend placing the pump closer to the creek and using a longer outlet hose if possible. I have mine set up to lift water about 15', using about 30' of 1" rigid black plastic line and a brass foot valve. I have used up to 150' of hose on the outlet side.

I am pumping water from a lake to the front of my lake house . The lift from the lake to the front of the house is approx. 30 feet, distance is approx. 80' and I have plenty of pressure. Holds prime unless it sets for a week or so, but it is very fast to prime with 2 cups of water from the lake. Hope this helps you.

I would recommend locating the pump closer to the water source using an extension cord and a resinforced intake hose to prevent collapsing under suction. A foot valve with check valve is also handy to filter larger particles and avoiding the need to prime again between each use.

This pump will not work for your application because it will only suck water from 20 feet away.
At this time we do not offer a pump that can draw water from 100 feet away.

It says "self priming" yet video states it must be primed. I have an application where I need self priming. So is it self priming or not?
-
ProductExpert37· 10 years ago
This pump will require the first priming by you, after the first time it will self-prime.

Thanks for the question.
The pump will need to be filled with water for the first use, water is the lubricant to keep the shaft seal cool while pumping water up to the impeller.
Once the pump is filled and used it will "self prime" after it has been shut down and water remains in the volute.Helpful?

Can this pump be attached to my water hose outside?
I need to extend my water hose about 200 ft from the house to get water to my garden. Can I run this to my house hose with the normal water pressure from my house and will this pump take it the rest of the way out to my garden?
-
ProductExpert41· 11 years ago
This pump can be attached to your outside water hose.

100 foot hose or 100 foot extension cord?
The closest outlet to the water source is about 100 feet away. What would be better for the motor/pump.....plugging the pump directly into the outlet with a 100 foot hose from the pump to the water source or using a 100 foot extension cord with the pump closer (5-10 feet) to the water source?
-
philner· 12 years ago
put the pump as close to the water source as possible and use a larger gauge power cord (there are recommendations online at northern tool) bigger is better 100 ft I would recommend 10 gauge. going 220v allows for a thinner power cord

This sprinkler booster pump should be placed as close to the water source as possible. This enables the pump to perform better and with less strain. A 100' extension cord can be used with this pump provided it's 12 gauge. For distances of 50' or less to the electrical outlet, a 14 gauge extension cord can be used.

Can one use this pump to use water from rain barrel thru a single impact sprinkler?
Occurred to me that might be able to hook to gravity outlet of rain barrel.
Thanks

Altoidian· 10 years ago
Absolutely. I ran it for three years pumping water through a solar heating grid. The pump still runs fine.

ProductExpert25· 15 years ago
Yes, if you have enough pressure from the rain barrel and you are not to far away from the sprinkler the pump should generate enough pressure for the sprinkler. This would not be recommended for use with more than one sprinkler.

Can I use this pump for recirculating hot water from an Instant Water heater inside my house, as a way to get hot water to a shower in a distant bath.
The hot water would return through the cold water line and go through the heater again instead of having to run and waste water until the hot water reached the bathroom.
-
tdbt3c· 15 years ago
Why not just install the instant water heater closer to the bathroom? I would install one under the sink or tub and have it service the whole bathroom. You could possibly do that for all the units in your house and be less off than the cost of a new water heater.

This pump is not rated for hot water. Wayne does not carry pumps rated for hot water.

With the 3/4” garden hose adapter, what inside diameter garden hose (3/4, 5/8 1/2)should be used for the water outflow? Should it be a heavy duty hose, non collapsibg?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 5 days ago
You should use a garden hose with an inside diameter (ID) of 3/4". You would want to use a rigid, heavy-duty, non-collapsing reinforced hose.

WHAT IS THE HOLE FOR NEXT TO THE PRIMING PORT
1 answer-
ProductExpert11· 4 years ago
There are two holes used on the top of the pump. The large hole will be the discharge port. The small hole will be the priming port.
