Yes. However you may have to thin it slightly with water.

I have both guns (1.7 and 2.3mm). The 1.7 is perfect for auto epoxy primer, so I suspect the 2.3 would throw too much material and you'd end up with runs.

I used the 2.3 Vaper with a Sears 1 hp, twin compressor. I sprayed GelCoat - 5 coats. Sure, I had to wait sometimes for the compressor to "catch up," but it presented no problems. I think the airflow at 40psi was something like 6-7 cfm.

I sprayed Gelcoat thinned to 10% ... so West Systems Epoxy could be used the same way and thinned accordingly.

I was unable to find any nozzle and needle kits, so I spent the $40 to buy another gun. I do suggest buying the same brand so the wrenches and cups will work on both. You can be sure that a nozzle kit would cost $20 or more, so you may as well just get the whole gun.

It will need to be reduced about 5-10 %. I use it often for this.

Yes, it will work. I sprayed Rustoleum rusty metal primer (oil based) on patio furniture using a Vaper 1.7mm gun. It worked but was too slow. The 2.3mm gun would be better. The bigger problem will be getting enough air through a long hose. I could not get a nail gun to work at the end of two 50 ft hoses, so a paint gun would be very iffy. A portable compressor with shorter hose might be better, but cfm could be an issue.

Deck stain will require nozzle sizes between 1.5 mm to 1.8 mm depending on the viscosity of the stain. See recommended sprayers below.

The spray gun smaller cup would have to be the same fitting size but Northern does not carry a smaller cup for this unit.

This spray gun is an HVLP sprayer. HVLP or a high end turbine sprayer are the recommended types of sprayers for dip painting so this gun should work just fine.
