  1. Does the winch hold the load in both directions? ie if you are cranking up or cranking down does the winch hold the load if you let go of the handle?

    1. The winch is a standard boat type winch. It holds when lifting automatically but not automatically when lowering. When lowering a small lever has to be activated to make it lock into position. I assumed this would be a problem for me since I was lifting 500lbs but the mechanism was smooth and surprisingly light for that weight.

    2. There is a lock pin that can be used to lock the winch at the appropriate height.

    1. Yes. Surprisingly easy too for the 500 lb I used it for.

  3. When fully raised what is the radius of the rotation at the farthest point? I am trying to figure out if this is a good option for lifting items to the top of my garage, where a hoist won't fit.

    1. When the rocker arm is raised to its maximum height, the turning radius is approximately 16".

    1. This truck crane can be mounted to a rolling flat cart. Make sure the cart is rated to hold the crane as well as the load the crane will be lifting.

    1. This crane could be mounted to a concrete floor with the appropriate anchors; however, it is designed to be mounted to a truck bed or trailer bed. A jib crane may be a better option for this application.

  9. Can you use a electric winch on this

    1. We do not recommend modifying this truck crane with an electric winch. It could change the weight of the product and the capacity for lifting. It would also void the warranty.

  10. I’m thinking if putting this on my boat to lift kayaks from the water to the too deck (about 20’). We’re in salt water most of the time and want to know if this material will be okay or will it easily rust? Thanks.
