Product Summary

Versatile and durable this 4in. metal in-line exhaust fan features high pressure air handling performance with low noise and extremely low power usage. This fan and control combination can be used to activate this fan as another appliance, fan, or other device receives power. Often used for Duct Booster, Dryer Boosting, Equipment Cooling, Factory Exhaust and many other applications. The Current Switch is designed to turn 120 VAC devices on when it senses and input current. The Current Switch is UL 94-V0 rated for safety of flammability of plastic materials for parts in devices and appliances. The output switch rating is 120 VAC with a running frequency of 45Hz to 65Hz and its max ambient temperature is 140°F

  1. For short term installation, can the unit be manually controlled, that is turn it on and off when using the dryer?

    1. The booster can be manually controlled. You can use separate controllers for speed or a manual switch.

  2. Can this item be installed horizontal instead of vertical?

    1. The dryer booster can be installed horizontally. When mounting horizontally you would need to insure the motor shaft stays level and the air flow arrow is pointing correctly to avoid lint and heat traps.

  3. How long of a run with 4" pipe will it be effective?

    1. The booster with 4" ductwork is generally recommended for runs up to 100 equivalent feet. You would need to consider elbow used. For best results it is recommended to install the fan at least 15 linear feet from the dryers exhaust outlet or as close as possible. You would need to check the building codes and check the specific venting requirements for the dryer by the manufacturer.

  4. Is the current sensor switch wired to both the dryer and the fan? Or is the sensor wired to the dryer, but wireless to the fan?

    1. You would need to wire the dryer and fan to the switch, it is not wireless.

  5. Looking at the max ambient temperature range of 145degrees. Would this work in an attic in a Texas summer? My dryer vent goes directly into the wall and up two flights into the attic. I'd say about a 20–25-foot run.

    1. This could be installed in an attic as long as it is installed in an area that does not reach ambient temperatures over 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

  6. can this be used on a boiler flue? not sure what temp this fan is rated for

    1. Per the manufacturer, the M series fans are not designed for that type of application.

  7. can you connect to L1 terminal in back of dryer where cord is attached? Also, does it need a return(neutral)

    1. This dryer booster can be connected to the L1 terminal on the back of the dryer. The current sensor needs to have the neutral of the power cord pass through it's core prior to being connected to the dryer. Please note, any electrical work should be done by a licensed electrician.

  8. Does the sensor have to be in the same room? Can it transmit through a wall or floor?

    1. The current sensing switch needs to be installed on the appliance this exhaust fan is being used with, such as a dryer. It senses current to the appliance then turns the exhaust fan on.

  9. Is the current sensor switch line voltage wired to the fan, or does it send a low voltage current to the fan switch?

    1. The current sensor switches the L1 or hot lead to power the booster fan when the dryers primary power and resultant current draw is sensed.

    1. This should be installed no closer than 10 feet from the dryer and up to 60 feet away.
