Product Summary

Turn logs into lumber with the Beam Machine, which attaches securely to any chainsaw and converts it into a portable sawmill. Simply set your chainsaw in the special clamp, tighten two screws, then secure a 2 x 4 in place as a guide on top of the log. The Beam Machine slides along the 2 x 4, guiding the chainsaw as it makes a straight cut. Roll the log a quarter turn for the second cut, and so on. After 4 cuts, you have a beam. Chainsaw not included.

  1. how big of beams will this make?

    such as 10x10s? 6x6? or what?

    1. it is only limited by the size of your chain saw. This item is only a guide for the saw.

    2. It depends on the size of your chainsaw bar and the size of the timber that you are milling. You can let your imagination take over and basically make what ever size beam that you want.

    3. It will make any length, any width, that is what is so neat. You are only limited by the size of the original log.

    4. It obviously depends on the size of the tree your cutting for timbers, and the saw bar. I use an 18" bar and can regularly cut 8x8 and down.

    5. pretty much any size you want - it simply depends on how big the log is you're starting with.

    6. You cut off four sides of the log and what is left would be be the beam size. The size of the beam would be determined by the size of the log and length of the bar on your saw.

  2. Can the Beam Machine be used to make straight cross-cuts (as in bucking logs for firewood), with the two sides being parallel?

    1. I have never used it for that, but you could use it for that as long as your measurements are parallel, and attach the guide.

    3. yes you can, within the instructions, there is a simple drawing of how to do just that. Make a cut off / buck saw very easily

    4. The manufacturer recommends drilling 2 holes through the channel and then nail the channel down securely.
