The SunStar Heating Products Ceramic Heater is ideal for spot heating or area heating of remote locations, farm buildings, shops, service areas, pump houses or other hard-to-heat spaces, providing both fuel efficiency of radiant heat and installation flexibility (not recommended for car washes). This is a Millivolt Standing Pilot heater and does not require an external power or electricity to operate, so it's great for use during power outages. Requires a 750 Millivolt Thermostat to operate (sold separately). Indoor use only. U.S.A.

NOTE: Please review the detailed Installation Operating Instructions (attached) for other specific installation requirements (gas pressure, ventilation etc.) prior to purchasing the heater.

  • The minimum supply gas pressure is 7.0in. Water Column (WC) and the maximum supply pressure is 14in. WC gas pressure
  • If higher gas pressure is supplied, you will need to install a line pressure regulator (sold separately) to reduce it to less than 14in. WC (or 1/2 PSIG)
  • Supply pressure of 7in. WC is critical and supply pressure less than 7in. WC can affect the operation of the pilot/heater
  • The standing pilot flame can be affected in windy/drafted areas and not recommended in these environments
  • No assembly required
  • Heaters are 100% test-fired prior to shipment
  • CSA design certified

    1. The unit is not considered vent free. The heater requires ventilation in the installed building. Power ventilation is recommended.

  2. Can I skip a thermostat and just do an on/off switch. Unit will be outside.

    1. This requires a 750 millivolt thermostat to operate. This is for indoor use only.

  3. Can this heater work with a standard house thermostat? Or a wifi thermostat?

    1. A millivolt thermostat model number 42489010 (item number 16287) is required. The heater will not work with a wifi thermostat.

  5. In my shop I can only get 11' of height from my concrete floor. Is that going to be a problem?

    1. This heater requires 72'' of clearance below the unit and 36'' above the heater. This will work on a 11 foot high ceiling.

  6. Can this unit be installed vertical? I would like to insert into an existing fireplace use as room heater?

    1. This unit is not designed to be mounted vertically or installed in an existing fireplace. It also requires the following clearances from any combustible material: 36" above, 72" below, and 36" from the sides of the heater.

  7. can unit be converted to propane fuel supply?

    1. A conversion kit is unavailable for this heater. Please look up item# 16334 for the propane model.

    1. The heater is intended for indoor residential use. It may not operate properly on an uncovered patio.

  9. Why is this heater not recommended for a car wash?

    I am considering using this heater in the pump room of a car wash.

    1. This is a ceramic heater and they do not handle high humidity. The ceramic over time will absorb the humidity and would effect the heater. A tube heater would be recommended for use in a car wash, such as item #16278.
