With the Strongway Hose Reel Cart, hose management has become easy. This heavy-duty cart is built upon a durable tubular steel frame with a corrosion-resistant industrial powder-coat finish, with heavy-duty brass fittings and steel axles. The fittings on this cart have a burst pressure of 725 PSI, and a maximum working pressure of 300 PSI. Most garden hoses are rated well below that, so there is no need to worry about this hose reel falling short.

  1. Can the leader hose be replaced with a 3/4" hose?

    We know it comes standard with a 5/8" hose. If I want to use a 3/4" hose with the reel, it would be good for the leader to also be 3/4"

    6. I was able to fit 150' of 3/4 hose on it no problem.

    7. The included 5/8" leader hose has the standard 3/4" garden hose thread (GHT) hose connections. If you were to switch out the leader hose, you will need to make sure that your hose has the correct fittings. Also keep in mind that this is designed for 400 ft. of 5/8" hose. Since 3/4" is larger, this cart will not hold as much hose length.

  2. Side-hill stability?

    My land is mostly side-hill, so stability is a huge issue. Has anyone used this on un-level ground without tipping problems if common sense is used?

    1. With this particular model it would be easier to navigate a (side hill) as you are behind the and pushing. So in a sense you would have some control to keep it from tipping. It would really depend on the how smooth the slope is. If its smooth then I think you could. If its bumpy then probably not.

    2. It would definitely depend on the slope of the hill. When I have this on level ground and I pull on the hose, I was able to exert a large pull without pulling the cart over. Of course as your slope increases the ease of pulling it over will increase. But I would think that if you can safely mow the lawn on that hill with something like a tractor mower then this hose reel should also stay upright. If you stood next the the reel and dispensed the hose that way, I would not expect any problem with it staying upright.

    3. I have slightly uneven ground and it's fine. like you said use common sense.

    4. With the hose on tipping is not a problem. Hose off and it will tip if you pull the hose all the way off and keep pulling. So, be aware of when the hose is spent out and releases pressure. I have never seen a 4 wheel reel that isn't incline to tip over on tilted ground or even flat ground when too much effort in pulling is applied.

    5. It is recommended that you use he hose reel on a flat and level surface. Pulling or pushing a load on a slanted or uneven surface may result in a loss of control.

    5. Northern Tool does not carry 400' lengths of hose at this time. You can attach multiple lengths of hose together to obtain a total of 400'. Please see the recommended items below for some of our 100' x 5/8" hoses.

  6. Can you pull the hose off reel?

    Will the cart topple if you try to pull hose off rather than unwinding it with the handle?

    1. Just put the thing together and haven't used it a whole lot yet but seems pretty stable.

    2. Nope. No topple in my experience, and I've yanked 100+ feet of hose from the reel. VERY sturdy.

    4. I have had no problem pulling the hose off the reel. Care and common sense must be used to insure the cart is on level ground, not on a side hill where gravity can tip it over with little "pull" on the hose. If on a hill, I support the cart and remove the necessary length of hose before stretching it out.

    5. This Strongway hose reel cart is steady enough for you to pull the hose directly off the reel. You do not need to feed it out with the handle.

    1. The item #46378 is a little heavier duty than the #104518 and they have different wheel rims on them.

    1. Northern Tool and Equipment warrants this hose reel, components and parts, unless otherwise specified,
      under normal use and service for a period of 7 years.
      This warranty does not cover damage caused by products not supplied by warrantor, leaking caused by
      use of acid, harsh chemicals or mineral deposits, or failures which results from accidents, mishandling,
      faulty installation, freezing, misuse or misapplication, abuse or neglect.
