I just used wire nuts to attach it to a typical 3-prong power cord.

How do I connect the wire leads to a power cord?
Does NT sell a power cord that I can use to wire this pump?

You don't need a power cord. You can buy a replacement male plug for a buck or two and attach it. In our business we use a 3' length of an old power cord, and attach with wire nuts. We do this because in the demanding situation of our coffee hut, we wear out a pump every 12-18 months. This is acceptable service length for a diaphragm pump, where a city water hookup is not available.

Northern does not sell a power cord that you could use with this pump. The cord would have to be made or purchased locally.

No, it is direction specific. There are little arrows on the head to show the flow direction.

No, the ports on this SHURflo pump can not be changed because the pump is not reversible.

Is the on-off pressure adjustable?
-
groundrules· 14 years ago
There is an adjustment screw on the pump head that suggests you are able to alter the shutoff pressure, but i found that there is definitely a minimum shutoff pressure that is required. Even with the shutoff adjustment screw adjust all the way out (to the low pressure setting) the shutoff pressures I was measuring was still about 40 psi. I never tried to see what pressure the high side of the adjustment range was.

The pressure is adjustable. Although, Improper adjustment of the pressure switch, may cause severe overload or premature failure. Failures due to improper adjustment of the pressure switch will not be covered under the limited warranty.

I don't know where the other two answers came from? These pumps are entirely pressure shutoff adjustable. I run three of these all at different pressures, and adjust pressure output regularly. The adjustment screw is clearly visible in the picture even. What's not adjustable is the differential, which is just under 20psi, so if you have it shut off at 50psi is has to drop to just over 30psi to start again. I hook these to a pressure tank just like a typical well/house setup only smaller and for RO water.

will this pump work on a home sprinkler system to help sprinkler heads to work
it would only be running for 30 min per day
-
PIVS· 11 years ago
I don't think the pump was designed for this particular use. The output and pressure are, in my opinion not enough.
Am not familiar with other pumps that could be helpful for this matter.Helpful?

This Shurflo pump is not designed to be used as a sprinkler pump. A better option for a sprinkler pump would be item numbers 10804, 10805 or 109258 (see below).

Does this pump drain back?
When the pump shuts off, does the liquid stay in the line or does it drain back into the source?
-
Tthomss56· 12 years ago
Water stays in the line primed and ready for next usage

ProductExpert13· 12 years ago
This pump will shut off when the line reaches 50 psi and turn on again when it drops to 30 psi. As long as there is power to the pump it will not drain back.

can i pump viscous liquid with this pump
-
groundrules· 14 years ago
I can't say whether or not the product is actually designed to do it or not, but I can tell you that I had success using this pump to move many thousands of gallons of an oil/water emulsion that had a viscosity similar to whipping cream. The product I moved was measured at 23 cPs. It worked like a champ.

The pump is designed for water transfer and can also be used with some water based chemicals. It is not intended for use with any type of oil or other heavily viscous material.

This pump does not come wired with a plug. It can be plugged into an outlet if you add/wire an appropriate 115 volt plug to the existing wires.

Can this pump suck water from a pond?
-
ChrisI· 15 years ago
No problem, the pump needs to be primed with water though, can't run it dry!

ProductExpert29· 15 years ago
The SHURflo Industrial Pump can draw water from a pond. The pump is limited in how far it can draw water. It has a maximum suction lift vertically of 9 feet, so as long as you are within that range, and don't have lots of sediment, you should be fine.

What are the temperature limits of the fluid being pumped?
-
Airthug· 15 years ago
I pump waster vegetable oil through it at 160 degrees with no problem. Just make sure the priming screw is fully closed so you will have no leaks.
