This shelter comes with 4 cork-screw type anchors that screw into the ground nearly 2 feet. Each anchor goes in each corner of the shelter and straps to the frame easily. What is not easy is screwing those things into the ground. They have to screw all the way in so that only the eye is above ground. We used a heavy-duty large electric drill with a large "L" shaped allen wrinch in it to screw them in over halfway before the drill couldn't turn it any more. The rest we just used a long pole (about 2') and turned them in the rest of the way by hand. Hard work but our shelter just survived 40-60 MPH wind storm that lasted 18 hours. Impressive!

The shelterlogic original shelters series of portable garages all secure to the ground with the included augers in the garage kit package. You can upgrade to an optional anchoring system. You can also visit the Northern Tool and pick up some concrete lag anchors or some other type anchoring system.
These shelters are very versatile and can be set up on flat dirt, gravel, concrete pad or knee wall of blocks. Many people use them for farm use and portable garage shelters. The manufacturer shelter logic originalshelters.com recommends them for AutoShelters, Cycle Storage, Small tractors, generator shed, lawn tools, and equipment storage. You will really like it if you buy one!

The kit includes heavy duty auger-anchors that you screw into the ground. You put these in at the base of each leg and then tie the frame to these anchors. This is a critical step since the garage has a lot of sail area in a big wind.

How long does this take to assemble this unit? What tools would be required?

It took me 3-4 hrs. Only tools required was a socket & ratchet and a screwdriver. Very east to assemble.

We had 4 people assembling this shelter. It can be assembled by 2 with a little more effort but opt for 4 - especially if its a bit windy. The 4 of us took 3 hours to assemble the frame and anchor it, then about an hour and a half to put the coverings on the next day. It only took us 2 days because we started late and ran out of daylight. Recommendation - if you have a large electric power drill that you can put a large "L" shaped allen wrench in, that makes putting the anchors in MUCH easier than turning them all the way in by hand. It may not sink them all the way if you live in a place like Maine where there's a large rock every 3 inches but even if it only goes halfway in with the drill you'll save a lot of time and energy.

I store snowmobiles that have no reverse, and need a drive through.
