  1. Battery Maintenance

    One of the answers in Q&A said it was not to be used for long periods of time. What does that mean?
    I have one on order for charging and maintenance.

    1. Any charger should not be left on a battery for long periods without checking on the charger and the battery. The charger should shut off if the battery shorted. These are very safe chargers, but when charging anything you do not need to leave for extended periods of time without checking on them. I leave one of my chargers for a week at a time without checking on it, but the vehicle is not in my garage and is outside with the charger covered from the weather. This is not recommended by the manufacturer.

    2. The maintain mode technology allows you to safely charge and maintain a healthy battery for extended periods of time. Leaving the charger/maintainer unattended for extended periods of time is not recommended by the manufacturer. They recommend monitoring the battery and charging process occasionally since unanticipated conditions could cause excessive current draws and cause damage.

  2. IS IT WATERPROOF

    CAN IT BE LEFT CONNECTED OUTDOORS WHILE OUT OF TOWN

    1. This is not weatherproof. I use an extension for the charger and have the charger in my garage with the extension running outside to the spare vehicle. Works great that way. The extension is 25' and I found at the local Northern Store.

    2. The manufacturer does not recommend having the unit exposed to rain or snow. This product is not designed to be left unattended for long periods of time.

  3. Will this charge three batteries in series on diesel van?

    One battery, accessory, is marine. The other two are starter for 7.3 liter Ford diesel.

    1. This charger will not charge three batteries in series. This charger is only capable of charging one 12-volt battery at a time.

  4. Will this work with a 12V deep cycle battery? I just ruined one using a "smart" charger/maintainer.

  5. What setting do you use for optima batteries -lead acid or lithium ion?
