Have an ATV with a 12V accessory plug. Would it be possible to use along with a power inverter ? How many watts does this product use ? Thanks!

I didn't have any luck with an inverter so I use my portable gas generator that push.es about 6.5 amps
Helpful?
It is 8 amps. 120 volts X 8 = 960 watts
Helpful?
The motor says 120V, 8 amps. I think you can calculate the wattage from that.

How many watts or amps is your ATV plug good for and is it 12V or 120V. This units needs 800 watts, about 8amps of 120V power. I didn't feel the 1000watt invertor in my dodge diesel would adequately run it under load and didn't want to chance burning it out. Best to use a 1500 - 2000W or greater 120V generator to ensure it has enough juice so doesn't over heat. Remington is not the cadillac of pole saws
but will give good service if it gets fed adequate juice and you don't pinch the chain and still try to run the motor at the same time. Ber

You would need an inverter/generator with about 1000 watts to run this Remington Electric Pole Saw.

I used to own an equipment rental company. We used several Remington chainsaws, for folks uncomfortable with gas saws. They performed very well and the design is basically the same since 1980 when I started using them.
They have always had the manual oiler. we used our recycled oil from our 4 cycle equipment oil changes, as our bar oil. It worked great for us, just thought I would share that option with you folks. There was always more old oil around, and a pretty basic form of recycling.

Go with the staff answer. In my twilight years, I have taken to reading the instruction manuals of things that I buy. The manual stated that bar and chain oil is insufficiently viscous to do a good lubrication job for this. I use 30W in mine.
Helpful?
No, and the oiling mechanism is really mickey mouse. I use an oilcan and oil the entire chain manually after every several cuts by using a gloved hand to move the chain a complete loop with one hand while oiling with the other. The push bulb oiler that comes with the saw is very inadequate in my opinion. But the saw works really good; don't let the manual oiling requirement stop you from using a very valuable tool. Ber

It did not come with any oil but I used the chain oil that I use for my regular chainsaw. So far it's working very well.

For safety reasons, the pole saw is packed and shipped from the factory without any oil in the unit. Before using the saw, consumer must fill with oil. Fill the Oil Tank (Bar Lube Reservoir) with SAE#30 motor oil. There is an oil sight to show when oil is full.
Helpful?
This saw only cuts straight from the pole, not curved.
Helpful?
Doesn't swivel. Angle is set to straight.
Helpful?
The only safe and proper way to use this saw is to cut straight on as the head does not swivel.
Helpful?
I oil my saw off the pole. It's worth the effort to do this before you put it on the pole. If you need to add it in the middle of a job still take it off the pole.
Helpful?
Can't oil the saw without lowering it to the ground
Helpful?
The squeeze bulb that is located on the power head will need to be pushed to apply oil to the chain before every cut. You will need to bring the saw down to reach the bulb to apply oil.

The operations manual that comes with the saw has 1-800 numbers to call for replacement parts and where to get service on the saw. Ber

Standard 3/8" chainsaw chain
Helpful?
Mine uses 3/8 inch, low profile, .050 gauge chain, 40 drive links. This is also sold in Oregon consumer packaged chain as "S40" chain.
I believe that mine originally came with skip-tooth chain, due to the small motor size, but I have used conventional, full-comp chain on it, as long as it is sharp. The low kickback feature on most Oregon consumer chains is nice on this saw, due to the long reach of the saw, and likelihood of hitting other branches while pruning.
Helpful?
This unit comes with a 3/8 pitch 10 inch Oregon bar and chain.

"Assembled in Mexico" not further identified on the box.
Helpful?
This Remington saw is made in Mexico.

Would vary depending on gauge of wire in extension cord. 14 gauge and 12 gauge shouldn't have any issues with 100' extension cords. Double check the amp draw of the chainsaw. 14 gauge is good for 15 amps and 12 gauge is good for 20amps I believe.
Helpful?
The maximum length of cord is 150 foot. Use a 16 gauge cords for lengths from 25 to 100 feet and 14 gauge cords from 100 to 150 feet.
Helpful?
What's the maximum overall length, from the tip of the blade to the back of the handle, when it's fully extended?
8'
Helpful?
The fully extended length is 96".
Helpful?
This Remington electric pole saw does have a plastic drive spoke.
