  1. Is the diaphragm , replaceable if it goes bad

    1. The diaphragm on the bottom of the pressure switch can be replaced by ordering a new pressure switch kit (305585012). This switch can be purchased directly from the manufacturer.

  2. Could this pump we connected directly to a portable generator?

    1. The pump could not be plugged directly to a portable generator. It would require proper wiring or a transfer switch.

  3. 2 questions: can this pump be easily winterized? Can the pump be turned around so the intake and output are on the same side? Thank you

    1. The RL‑SWJ50 pump can be winterized by removing the priming plug and drain plug to fully gravity‑drain the casing, but the pump body cannot be rotated or reconfigured to place the suction and discharge ports on the same side because both ports are fixed cast‑iron features of the housing.

  5. can a put a power cord with plug at end on unit

    1. Yes, you can add a power cord and plug by installing a UL-listed ½″ NPT strain relief in the 7/8″ knockout, wiring per Figure 7 with AWG sized per Table 2 (p. 12) for your pump’s HP, voltage, and run length, complying with NEC/jumper specs, and having a licensed electrician do the work.

  6. How do you prime the pump

    1 answer

    1. You will need enough water to fill the suction line and casing. Priming time will depend on the distance from the water source to the pump. The time can range from 5-15 minutes. There are two ways to prime the pump depending if you are using an inline check valve or a foot valve. Instructions on priming the pump can be found on page 12 of the manual.

    1. The O-ring is part of the kit #305585002. This would be available through the manufacturer.
