I purchased my ProFusion Model #HA24-75M Ceiling-Mount Shop Heater from Northern Tool in 2018, and the fan turns on and off with the thermostat. There is a delay of approximately 30-seconds after the thermostat kicks on before the fan starts (to allow the coils to heat-up and make certain the unit is blowing only hot air). There is also an approximate 30-second delay after the thermostat kicks off before the fan stops (to expel all of the heat and cool down the unit).

Please clarify the fan operation, does it run constantly or does it shut off with thermostat

The fan will run whenever the unit has power as it does not have a set on/off switch. The thermostat would only control the amount of heat the coil produces. The heater does have a fan delay feature when first starting the unit. This feature would prevent the unit from overheating by turning on once the heating coil reaches a certain temperature. The fan will continue to run once the heating unit has been turned off to help cool the coils.

my fan runs constantly, using the internal thermostat. I can't speak for others.

It does run constantly. The onboard thermostat shuts down the heating element only. I used a lever type master shutoff wired inline and mounted near heater. Otherwise you have to shutoff using breaker on main circuit panel.

Can You Get a Wall Hang Bracket?
Can you get a bracket for mounting the heater to a wall (rather than the ceiling)? Some of the photos tend to show the unit with a wall mount bracket which is what I would need.

Can this heater be run with a cord instead of hardwired?
-
chuckiii3· 7 years ago
This heater must be hardwired to meet code. A plug-and-receptacle installation is not recommended.

-
Tincanguy· 8 years ago
Would not recommend -- this requires at least 8 gauge wire, and not too long. Stranded wire recommended, as solid wire is difficult to use with this heater

This heater does require a hardwired connection. It cannot be run with a power cord.

Would this be safe to leave on for overnight or extended periods to keep pipes from freezing in a basement garage?
-
BinfordToolMan· 10 years ago
Yes, it is safe to leave on for extended periods. Main thing is to make sure it is hardwired properly with the recommended 8-gauge wiring (can use 6-gauge if desired) and a 40-Amp double-pole breaker.

I'm using it in a detached 3.5 car garage to maintain a 50 degree temp. It works well. The unit has to be hard wired, I suppose you could put a dryer plug on it. Mine is on all the time because it has a built in thermostat.

-
ProductExpert40· 11 years ago
The heater does have a thermostat on the unit so you could set it at a lower setting for overnight or extended periods of use and it would be just fine.

What are the decibals / sound level of unit?
I've seen several comments re: low sound but for comparison, does anyone know the decibal level when in operation (blower + heater both on)?
thx!
-
Chris217· 9 years ago
The heater doesn't seem to add any sound, but I'd compare the fan to about the sound of a box fan on medium level
Helpful?
-
5pr1nk73r43r0· 11 years ago
Not sure about decibels, but the sound is comparable to one of those 2' square box-fans on a high setting. Relatively quiet.

-
ProductExpert40· 11 years ago
The manufacturer has not rated or tested this item for a decibel sound level.

What is the temperature *F ranges for the thermostat settings
-
Chris217· 9 years ago
The actual unit does not show a °F measurement, it's +/- so you kinda have to feel it out with what feels good.

gb9019· 11 years ago
It's not marked on the dial.
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert30· 12 years ago
On this heater the wattage setting doesn't give any temperature rating and neither does the dial indicator for the temperature control knob. You would set adjustment to high setting and when desired temperature is reached, you would turn down knob until heater shuts off.
