HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE GENERATOR I NEED?

HOW TO CALCULATE
Running watts needed: Total running watts of ALL items to be powered by the generator.
Starting watts needed: Add highest SINGLE starting watt to total running watts needed above.

EXAMPLE

  1. Calculate running watts
    Furnace 600 + Lamp 100 + Microwave 1000 + Refrigerator 700 = Total running watts 2400
  2. Calculate starting watts
    Total running wattage 2400 + Refrigerator 2200 = Total starting watts 2400

QUICK REFERENCE WATTAGE

1200-1800 watts examples: power tools, coffee maker, heat stove. 2800-3800 watts examples: refrigerator, electric table saw, clothes washer. 5500-12000 watts examples: air compressor, electric furnance, clothes dryer.

    1. Choose a location where the generator will not be exposed to rain, snow, or direct sunlight during operation. Water exposure can cause electric shock.

  2. Can this Generator be used as standby and connected to an ATS an do the automatic switching through when main power source fails?

    1. This generator can be connected through an automatic transfer switch. We recommend consulting a licensed electrician.

  3. Does this unit have a 2-wire start feature that can be connected to a solar inverter?

    1. This generator is not designed to connect to a solar inverter. Modifications of any kind would void the warranty.

  4. Were do u ad oil

    1. The oil fill tube is located behind the blue panel on the right-hand side of the generator (the pull-starter side). Instructions for changing the oil can be found at the bottom of page 38 in the Product Manual, which is located below the Product Summary on the web page.

  5. Does this generator have a bonded neutral? If so, can it be floated? I intend to connect to a transfer switch which would already be bonded in the main house panel.

    1. This generator has a bonded neutral. We do not recommend modifying this generator in any way as the warranty would be voided. Please view the grounding details on page 20 of the Product Manual which is located below the Product Summary on the web page.
