  2. Do you have to have a 20 amp breaker to use this splitter?

    1. This log splitter should be connected to a 20-amp or 30-amp electrical circuit.

  3. How are you supposed to install the wheel locks??  Is there a special tool for attaching them?

    1. The wheel locks are snap rings. Snap ring pliers are needed to install these locks during assembly.

  4. Does the bleeder valve where it is filled need to be opened and outgassed and remain open while operating or only turn to relive pressure then close again before operating

    1. The bleeder valve may be opened to release air when the machine is initially set up, but it should not be necessary to do so again afterward. It should be closed prior to operating the machine.

  5. Can it be stored vertically?

    1. This log splitter can be stored in the vertical position. Make sure the oil cap is tightened before doing so.

  6. I bought the splitter and assembled it yesterday. The instructions #3 says "open the cap and inject the appropriate type hydraulic oil" how much oil is required to fill.

    1. The hydraulic oil capacity is 0.77 gallons. The recommended oil will be a Shell Tellus T22, Aral Vitam GF22, Mobile Dtell or equivalent oil. Do not use other kinds of oil.

  7. Have there been cavitation problems in the hydraulic system as a result of use at higher elevations (6,000 ft asl)?

    1. The splitter will use 32 grade antifreeze and anti wear hydraulic oil with a pour point of -25 degrees. The splitter is designed to be used in elevations less than 1000 meters (3280.84 feet).

  10. Should hydraulic oil be added when the splitter is horizontal or vertical?  Should the wedge be fully retracted or fully extended (this changes the volume of space for oil) when adding oil? Should the oil fill cap be tightened again after bleeding?

    1. The log splitter is filled with oil. The unit should be configured in the horizontal position to refill it with oil. Make sure the wedge is retracted. The oil cap can be tightened after bleeding. During operation, if there is no oil splash, the cap can be loosened slightly. After using the log splitter, make sure to retighten the cap.
