High Altitude Operation

CAUTION: Operating at an altitude of greater than 2000 feet (610 meters) may affect your engine's performance, fuel consumption, and emissions. To remain emissions compliant and improve engine performance at higher altitudes, a high-altitude kit is required. A high altitude kit includes a carburetor jet resized to help correct air / fuel mixture at altitude. To order a high altitude kit, or if you have additional questions, contact us at 1-866-442-2576. Please note, engines with the high-altitude kit installed operated at lower altitudes could cause severe engine damage and affect emissions compliance. When modified, a tag or decal should be added to the product stating that a high-altitude kit was installed and to remind you to re-service the carburetor (re-jet) when operating in lower altitude environments.

    1. This pump is not designed to be used with hot liquids; however, the main seal can handle up to 140 degrees F.

    1. This pump has a maximum suction lift of 23 feet. It can push water over a hill, but keep in mind the maximum total head of this pump is 98 feet.

    1. This pump features an aluminum pump housing that can corrode with salt water use. It is not recommended.

  6. What type of threads do the hoses need to have to thread onto the pump? Special hoses that only Northern Tool sell?

    1. The hoses should be National Pipe Thread (NPT). Please see hose kit item 49618.

    1. This pump is designed to pump water and can handle solids up to 3/4". It cannot be used to pump waste oil or sludge. It can handle water with loose mud and grit.
