    1. The speed for this Strongway electric cable hoist is not adjustable. The speed of the line will depend on the weight of the load it is lifting.

    1. Replacing the cable on this Strongway electric cable hoist is not recommended as it could cause damage to the product or harm to the consumer and would void the warranty. You would need to get a complete control switch assembly which we do not offer in different lengths at this time.

  5. Can this be hung from a Hook on a gantry crane? the gantry has a chain block on it.

    1. The Strongway Electric Cable Hoist includes brackets to be mounted over a beam. This hoist can not hang from a hook.

    1. This unit does not have a variable speed feature. This unit will lift at different speeds depending on single or double line use and the weight of the load it is lifting. Single line lift speed is up to 33 feet per minute and double line lift speed is up to 16-1/2 feet per minute.

  7. How is a double line used? To go from 500 to 1,000 lbs?

    1. To set up double line on the hoist, the cable needs to go through a snatch block. Then, attach the cable hook to the frame of the hoist, located at the opposite side that the cable feeds from.

  8. What temperature range will this withstand?

    I need this for my shop at home. It is not heated during the winter unless I am in the shop. The winters in Maryland can get pretty cold. I saw at least one hoist on the Northern Tool site that could not be stored or used below freezing, which is ridiculous!

  9. Can it be mounted in an open tractor shed

    My tractor shed is dry, but it is open on all sides meaning it can be damp on wet days. Can this hoist handle that kind of dampness?

    1. The Strongway Electric Cable Hoist can only be used indoors in dry conditions. Use of this in damp conditions can cause the hoist to malfunction and would void warranty.

  10. How much head room is required?

    I am trying to understand how high the hook will be from the ground when mounted on a beam 10" above ground level.

    1. The unit measures 22-3/4" from the base of the mounting plate to the bottom of the hook. This would give you approximately 8' of working area if this unit is mounted 10' above the ground.
