Can I use this heater in an uninsulated basement.
I have an area in the basement that we turned into a hang out space for my kids. It is around 400sq ft. It is a walkout with 3 windows and one wall we framed out and drywalled the rest of the walls are concrete and uninsulated as is the floor which is stained concrete with an area rug. They do not spend alot of time down there but when they do it needs to heat reasonable quickly. The average temp year round is about 50degrees. Can I use an industrial heater for the basement?

The heater can be used in your uninsulated basement. This 7500 watt heater would be more than enough to keep the 400 square feet at a comfortable temperature.

Make sure it's on its own breaker and have nothing combustable in front of it.

can this be use in a wood working shop around sawdust
-
RatherBFishin· 13 years ago
The short answer is yes, but do clean it out every couple of weeks. I left mine up over several seasons but failed to clean it and barely averted a disaster. My fault, as I did not use much common sense. Heats my garage well, even after many years of use!

It is safe to use in a wood shop. It is recommended to clean the elements periodically to keep dust to a minimum inside the unit.

Due to variables we cannot say exactly how many sq. ft. this will heat. To accurately figure out how many total BTU's that you need to adequately heat your area follow this formula:
BTU's = (cu.. ft of area x .133) x desired temperature rise*
*Desired temperature rise is the difference between the temperature without heat and the desired temperature.

Can I run this heater around combustibles and the fumes
When I say combustibles I mean resins and their fumes generated curing
1 answer-
ProductExpert40· 12 years ago
Probably not advisable. Too many variables to be more specific, such as flashpoint of the specific combustible resin fumes and proximity to the heater.

Wall Mount Thermostat
I've read your answer requires the M601W line voltage thermostat BUT I see Northern sells item #162570 thermostat for 240 V adjustable between 30-110 degress fahrenheit - Will this work also ?
1 answer-
ProductExpert12· 13 years ago
Our item number 162570, the ag thermostat, will not work with the Fahrenheat heater as the thermostat is only rated for 8 amps at 240 volts.
