The new AirForce™ 250Ci Plasma Cutter with Built-In Air Compressor features a new lightweight inverter design that is both lightweight and powerful. Built-in compressor for total portability and low system cost. Cuts mild steel up to 1/4in. thick using standard household current. New HP-25 torch is more comfortable, efficient and economical. Plasma cutters cut faster and more precisely with a thinner kerf and less slag than cutting with oxy fuel. A smaller heat-affected zone also causes less warping. And you'll never have gas pressure settings, flame tuning, metal preheating, or gas cylinders or refills to worry about.

  1. Does the tip have to touch the material to ignite or does it self-ignite in the air?

    1. It self ignites. Make sure your ground is good once you start cutting tho!

    2. No it does not. This plasma cutter uses pilot arc technology. 1/16 inch away from material, slide the safety, pull the trigger and make your cuts!

    3. You would need to be within 1/8" of an inch of the material before you can pull the trigger to ignite.

  2. does the Hobart 250ci Model 500534 have the option of using external compresed air?

    1. No it does not, but the built in compressor is great.

    1. The Hobart Plasma Cutter is a capacitor discharge start. The plasma cutter is not advised to be used with CNC equipment.
