I like to keep play and work separate. For quick hitch compatible implements, I use Cat 1 to Cat 2 (3/4" ID, 1" OD) top link bushings. (A section of 1" pipe works in a pinch.) For implements that are not compatible, I purchased a quick hitch adapter bracket that installs in place of the top hook.

Is an adaptor not recommended for the top link since they come in pairs? Play doesn't matter there?

No, the top pin is standard. The quick hitch hook just slides under it. On some implements with limited space, I have to use the top link adjustment to catch the pin by hand, and then shorten the top link up again, but on many implements I just back up and hook up and never get off the tractor

The NorTrac Quick-Hitch Bushing Set will not require an adapter for the top link.

The slotted roll pins appear to be 1/2" in diameter. They appear too big for the list arm pins on my implement. Have any suggestions?
It is possible that a 7/16" diameter roll pin would work.
-
Lonnie47· 10 years ago
The fit is supposed to be extremely tight, so the pins are the correct size.

The roll pins are 1/2" in diameter and can be driven into a smaller hole with a hammer.

I have category 1 arms on my tractor 3 pt. hitch and I just bought a sickle mower that has category 2 pins - will this allow me to adapt and put the mower pins into my smaller diameter holes?
-
Lonnie47· 10 years ago
No, these are for converting the lower pins on the piece of equipment to properly fit into a Cat 1 quick hitch.

This bushing set will not adapt/attach a category 2 implement to a category 1 hitch. The bushing set will make attaching your implements to a quick hitch easier and also provides a snug fit to minimize implement movement.

how do you install this item?
-
Lonnie47· 10 years ago
You would slide these over the two lower Cat 1 hitch pins, line up the holes in the bushing and hitch pin and drive the roll pins through until they are flush.
Smaller end would go on first.Helpful?

The roll pins that come with these are super strong. Get a pair of vise grips and slightly clamp/squeeze one end (so it's smaller in diameter). Then tap the pin in the bushing, but not all the way through. Remove the vise grips, then slide the bushing on the pins on your implement. Line up the hole with the roll pin, then tap the roll pin with a hammer until it's flush with the bushing body. It only takes minutes to install these.

The NorTrac Quick-Hitch Bushing Set will install over the lower hitch pins of your category 1 implement. This will make attaching the implement easier and will give it a more snug fit, minimizing movement. We recommend a set for each implement you will be using, which will save time when changing between them.

Why are there two different outside diameters on the bushings?
Do the wider ends point outwards when installed? Is the goal to have the quick hitch hooks pick up the bushings on the narrower piece?
-
NorTracExperts· 10 years ago
The larger diameter ends will be on the outside when installed. The quick hitch will pick up the implement by the narrower portion, and the larger diameter portion will help to stabilize sideways movement of the implement.

You are exactly correct. The wider portion keeps the sideways slop down, while the thinner middle portion actually does the lifting

Will these bushings work with Pat's Category 1 quick hitch? Are they useful with Pat's quick hitch?
1 answer-
NorTracExpert12· 8 years ago
The Pat's Premium 3-point quick change hitch for Category 1, item 12610, is made for a 7/8" pin. This NorTrac bushing set has too large of an outside diameter, 1-7/8" on the large end and 1-7/16" on the small end, to work with that hitch.
