Product Summary

The NorTrac Harrow Rake uses 3-1/2in.L x 3/8in. dia. high-carbon steel tines to cultivate soil, prepare seed beds and rake dead foliage. Tines can be pulled forward and down for aggressive penetration, reversed for lighter action or turned upward to function as a drag mat. A heavy-duty tubular steel draw bar allows towing behind a tractor, jeep, pickup, ATV or 4-wheeler to level dirt racing tracks and playing fields. Usable length is 48-1/2in.W x 62-1/2in.L (113-9/16in. length overall). Requires no maintenance.

    Is this harrow a good harrow to drag a horse arena....is it sturdy enough for that type work?

    1. I just bought this to drag my corral and left a review. It did a great job! I used it teeth down for one pass and flipped it to do the second. Best looking my arena has been! Side note, I live in the desert and my ground is pretty soft.

      after removing some trees. If the arena is just dirt it
      should be ok.

  2. Can this product be used to smooth gravel driveways?

    1. It would. I would opt for the 1/2 inch version though. You would probably have to add some weight to it if you’re trying to pull a lot of gravel.

    3. Yes you can use on gravel driveways. You can drag with one side or flip it over and smooth with the other side.

  3. Is this harrow sturdy enough for dragging manure?

    I purchased the galvanized mesh harrow for this purpose, and I have had to wrap it with heavy chain to hold it together and to attach it to my tractor. The chain links in the mesh and the connector chain are not sturdy enough to hold up to being pulled behind my tractor. The original chain connector quickly broke apart, and the mesh has become entangled. I am still using it, but it is definitely time to replace. I want to make sure this one is strong enough to hold up to the beating. Thank you.

    1. I know they don't recommend it but I have been using mine for that the last 6 months. It does a great job. It is small enough I pull it with a four wheeler.

    2. the northern Tool guy cant recommend it but I can.. It will drag manure no problem... you may even have to use the lighter configuration.. ie. flip it over and drag with the teeth up

    3. This is the one.... you will have no problem .. I leveled a full acre dragging in behind my 700 ATV in low gear.. with 300 pounds of rocks on it to hold it in to a deep dig... it looks used but it is ready for more abuse.

    4. This harrow rake isn't intended for dragging manure. Northern Tool cannot recommend or advise on using it for that purpose.

  4. Double as a Thatcher?

    Would this double as a thatcher, raking moss out of a grass yard?

    1. Absolutely we clean hunting trails with it. It might take 2 or 3 passes but it will do the job.

  5. have mountain property and was wondering if it would be able to rake up pine needles?

    1. It does grab quite a bit of debris. I would say if it was wet, it would gather quite a few of them. Doubt it would clear all of it.

    2. This harrow rake is most effective when used to clean up larger foliage (leaves, etc.). It may not work well for pine needles due to their smaller size. Click the links below to view lawn sweepers which can be used to sweep/pick up pine needles.

  8. I googled a weed removal for Lakeshore. This product came up. Can this be used to remove weeds out of the lake?

    1. Although this harrow rake may work for weed removal, at the user's discretion, it is not specifically designed to be used in this manner.

    1. Although this harrow rake may work for this application, at the user's discretion, it is not designed to be used in this manner. Keep in mind that the force of dragging this through the water behind a boat may damage the rake.

    1. The harrow rake can be rolled for storage. Take care when unrolling it as the tines could get tangled.
