  1. How much liquid is left in the bottom when empty?

    My current sprayer leaves several quarts of liquid in the bottom of tank when it thinks it's tank is empty. The pump draws from the side of the tank and is located an inch above the bottom of the tank.

    Where does the pump draw from on this unit?

    1. There is a draw tube with a filter that sits in the bottom rear of the tank. If you adjust the tonque hitch so that the unit is slightly higher in front, there will be virtually no liquid left.

    2. The pickup tube has a screened fitting that rests on the bottom of the tank (or slightly above depending how far you insert the pickup tube). I've not run mine dry, but I imagine it would leave 1/2" to 1" of liquid in the bottom. The bottom of the tank is shaped so the pickup is very near the lowest point (the lowest point is where the drain is located). I'm guesstimating that less than a quart would be left in the bottom of the tank.

    3. From the back, in a slight depression. Mine empties the tank completely.

    4. This one has the pickup in the very center rear. While moving the liquid will be there but if not level and stationary you could have some in the front when the pickup is out of liquid.

    5. When assembling the unit, you have the ability to set the depth of the draw tube/strainer assembly. I have my strainer touching the bottom of the tank just before the drain port and only have about a quarter of a cup of fluid remaining in the bottom of the tank.

    7. The pump draws from the back of the tank, the tank is set on a slight angle so that there is next to no liquid left in the tank when empty.

    8. no there is only a very small amount left. The unit once hooked up is at a slight angle and it allows most if not all of the liquid to be used.

  2. Use with zero turn mower

    I read a Q&A saying it would not work with zero radius turns. Assuming the operator only made gentle turns of say 75° or less and did not reverse, would this unit work ok? I currently use rotary spreaders and aerators on my zero turn with no problems whatsoever

    1. Works fine on my zero turn, just make wide turns. Hitch height is adjustable.

    4. It is not recommended to be used with a zero turn mower due to the turning radius and the height of the hitch.

  3. Can the tank/sprayer unit function if removed from trailer?

    If you were to remove the tank and sprayer unit from the trailer, could it still be used without too much difficulty; i.e., mounted in another trailer?

    1. It just needs a 12v supply.

    2. It could be mounted on another trailer you would need to be able to do some fabracation to make it work.

    3. The tank can be removed from the trailer and put in another trailer. You would just remove the bolts and bolt it into your trailer.

  4. Can the boom be made to spray on one side only?

    Can one side boom sprayer nozzle be turned off?

    1. Yes just turn off the side you don't want on with the shutoff valve located on each boom. You can even spin the sprayer valve and adjust the pressure up to push the product out a little bit more too.

    2. Yes, there are shut-off valves on each boom, so either or both may be opened.

    3. There is a shut off valve that goes to each boom nozzle so it can be made to spray on one side only.

  5. How much assembly is required

    Where is this unit made and how much assembly is required?

    1. The unit is unassembled. Assembly takes about 20 to 30 minutes and requires a 1/2" socket wrench and a 1/4" nut driver.

    2. Complete assmebly is required. It took me about 1.5 hours woth hand tools.

    3. This NorthStar sprayer is made in China. It will require full assembly. All parts would need to be attached to the frame and tank.

  6. Can the sprayer be calibrated to control application amounts?

    1. The pressure is adjustable. By adjusting the pressure you can change the application rate. At 35 psi, the 31 gallon hopper will cover about an acre.

    2. No, application amount would be controlled by your water to chemical mixture ratio and how fast the sprayer is traveling while applying the mixture.

    3. This tow-behind sprayer can be calibrated to control application amounts using the spray calibration table which is on page 58 of the owner's manual. Click the link in the "Product Summary" section to view the manual.

  7. By what means does the unit agitate the tank contents?

    The description states:

    •Control system pressure and fluid agitation with regulator and pressure gauge

    But there are no details and the owner's manual was not posted online. Thank you.

    1. The sloshing of the fluids when it is being pulled. Other than that it is mixed when pressurized water is put in the tank.

    2. It mixes the chemical when water is added & also, shaken up while being towed around.

    3. This sprayer includes a pressure regulator/agitator (Item #2681032). This pressure regulator/agitator allows the sprayer to agitate the contents. The product manual is now posted.

  9. Are the wheels the “never flat” variety?

    1. No. They need air. You could put the other wheels on it.

    Is there a standard way, or something that comes to plug into an ATV without attempting to hook it to the battery since its not real accessable

    1. I got a quick-connect 2-prong plug. Hooked one end to the sprayer and other end to a longer wire attached to the battery. You can find one where trailer parts are sold.

    2. We do offer a remote sprayer switch kit item number 94993. The kit will include a 12 volt male adapter to plug into an automotive lighter or 12 volt power port.
