  1. Can this clear tree roots from 4 inch sewer pipe?

    1. There is no cutter head on this hose, so I'd say that unless the roots are very thin --- no, it will not clear them. If you have tree roots you need a snake with a cutter head, most likely.

    4. Probably not. It is not a roto rooter, but has the head drilled to allow water jets to 'wash' the pipe.

  2. How tight of a turn can you make with this hose?

    Can i make a 90 degree bend in 4" drain tile?

    1. I have used this on a 2" PVC pipe system and it makes the turns through Elbows and with some joggling it will go through a Tee. I don't know how to tell which way it comes out of the Tee though. After a some length of hose pushes on you may be able to tell by the way the water is flowing.

    3. Likely no problem. The hose is 3/8" OD and quite flexible, though stiff enough to push it along a pipe as well without folding it over on itself. I got into a Y cleanout, 90 degree 2 feet in, two unions, a joining Y, and through a tee 35 feet away. The pressure does need to be on though to help feed itself in...

    4. I would sure think so. It is a small hose unless your obstruction is such that you can not get thru it I do believe you would have plenty of room to make the 90 degree bend.

    5. The NorthStar drain cleaning hose is flexible so that it will be able to work in a 4" drain tile at a 90 degree angle.

  3. Does the cleaning hose have a on/off valve?

    Typically when a pressure washer is started the pump's internal relief valve bypass the flow. When the nozzled trigger is pressed the water then comes out of the spray nozzle. Is this drain cleaning hose have a valve or does the flow come out of the cleaning nozzle as soon as the pressure washer is started.

    1. as soon as started there isn't any valve and it should be 10ft in pipe prior to starting pressure washer

    2. You need to hook to a gun or a ballcock and than either when you trigger it or open the ballcock.

    3. GMB54 - It does not have an on/off valve. I bought a 5000psi handle on sale and a couple of fittings and created a trigger to turn it on and off

  4. What is the minimum effective flow and pressure requirements

    1. It is rated at 3000 PSI so anything that or below should work just fine.

    2. The minimum gallons per minute would be 2.5 and the minimum pressure would be 1500.

    3. it seemed to take less water then most spray tips, the spray holes are super fine so it does not use much water. I have a larger power washer and it kept wanting to idle back down because it was not using that much water.

    4. The cleaning hose is rated at 3000 PS I. I actually have a 4000 PSI / 4GPM pressure washer. (I understand this manufacturer does not offer a higher PS I rated hose). I simply reduce the pressure to accommodate the limits of the cleaning hose. Be very careful not to exceed these limits ! ( I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE ) used properly the drain cleaning hose is a wonderful device ! I am not sure of the minimum PSI or volume required. According to my pressure gauge I am operating mine at approximately 2500 PSI. I hope this helps !

  6. Will the head fit thru a standard 1 1/2" PVC 90 degree elbow?

  7. Can this be used with black corregated drain tile or will the pressure tear up the tile?

    1. I use it with black drain tile all the time and have not damaged the tile yet. My gas pressure washer is 3000 psi.

  8. Will this damage house pvc piping, i.e.: pvc water pipe in concrete?

    1. I have not experienced any damage to PVC sch30 or sch40. I use a 3000 psi pressure washer, the tip runs in the center of the pipe with the supplied three orifice.

    1. Although I cannot answer this question from direct experience, I want to remark that the question concerned gutter *downspouts*, not the gutters themselves. From what I've read it appears that one could clean downspouts s long as you do not have to go around a 90-degree bend. Based on that assumption, I'm going to purchase the Hose for cleaning a troublesome downspout that does have 45-degree bends and hope for the best

    1. No you would have to remove the toilet and stick directly in the line.
