  1. Can this be used to water from a 275 gallon tank?

    Can this pump be used to create watering system for plants and flowers. I would like to add this pump after a 275 gallon plastic tote and then add 50-75ft of hose with a regular garden hose pistol (on the shower setting). Will the pump still shut on/off when the hand trigger is shut on/off. What kind of flow could I expect at the end of the hose 75ft away?

    1. I am pumping from a 250 gal tank with a hose attached at the bottom, or a drop tube dropped in from the top. works good both ways.pump shuts off when it reaches the max pressure output. I don't pump as far as you are trying to, but at about half that distance it is just like I had it hooked to the home connection.

    2. Don't know how much I'll help but I have 50' of 3/8 hose on my sprayer and it doesn't even strain to pressurize it. The pump has 1/2' inlet and outlet but most garden hose is 5/8'. I have no doubt it would pressurize the hose but not for sure if it would have enough flow.

      As far as shutting off, it would shut off when the hose was up to rated pressure.

    3. This pump is designed to be used with a 1/2" hose and will push water through a 75' hose. There is not a way to determine what kind of flow there would be because there are too many variables involved.

  2. What distance will this pump spray in a vertical direction?

    I use my 14 gallon tank and pump to spray a bleach/water mix on my house for cleaning (Vinyl Siding). I want a pump that can spray approx. 28 ft. Will this one work?

    1. yes, the pressure is awesome.

    2. It will more than work. It will deliver 5.5gpm and cover about 300 sq. ft.

    3. The NorthStar 5.5 GPM Pump could provide up to 30 feet of spray in a vertical direction. This pump is not approved to be used with bleach.

  3. 12 volt pump

    Advertisement says 12 volt pump (2685561) puts out 5.5 Gpm at @ 60 psi. is this accurate or is the 5.5 gal gpm a free flow rating?

    1. Yes its accurate. I have timed it while pumping out 35 gal water tank.

    2. I was using a boomless spray system and not the wand in my application of spraying pasture. The wand would put out a lot more but you need to invest in a good wand not the cheap ones that come with a spray tank. I do not believe the 5.5 is accurate but it is a lot better delivery than the lower gpm pumps.

    3. This pump puts out 5.5gpm @ 60 psi, there is no free flow option for this pump.

  4. Would this be the proper pump to go between a watertank and pressurewasher?

    4 gpm pressurewasher but want to make sure has sufficient flow is why looking at larger one

    1. It will def. work. I used it for that purpose yesterday. It cycled on and off about once per second.

    2. Yes, I think it does have the volume to do that, but make sure your suction and discharge lines are both 1/2" all the way. I tested with a 1/2" line and I think the 5.5 GPM rating is likely a bit low. I'm sure you will do this, but don't forget to take volume/pressure increases or losses into account for elevation changes between your water source and pressure washer. Hope this helps.

    1. No toggle switch: It'll come on once connected to the battery.

    1. It can be mounted vertical as long as the pump head is on the bottom.

    2. This pump is an on demand and when the handle is depressed it comes on at 60 PSI and when the handle is released it shuts off.

  9. Will this work for a small grass fire fighting unit?

    1. Probably not enough pressure or volume. You can roughly cover about 300 sq. ft. in a minute at 5.5gpm with this pump. I would try the higher gpm 12v pump if it has to be 12v.

  10. What are the gpm at 40 psi

    The gpm of most other pumps are rated at low pressure. As the PSI go up, the GPM drop. I am trying to compare your pump output at 40 psi.

    1. In my experience, it will cover about 300 sq. ft. per minute and deliver about 5gpm at open flow.
