The Northern Industrial Welders Plasma 375 Plasma Cutter is a lightweight unit that features powerful inverter technology for smooth cutting. Handles almost any project you can throw at it, from mild steel to copper, brass, stainless and aluminum up to 3/8in. Cuts faster and more precise with a thinner kerf and less slag than cutting with oxy fuel. A smaller heat-affected zone also causes less warping. No gas pressure settings, flame tuning, metal preheating, or gas cylinders or refills to worry about, ever.

  1. What is the maximum severence for this plasma cutter.

    other 40 amp plasma cutters say they will cut up to 1/2 inch and severance of 5/8. what is this machines capacity. What is the different types of inverters for plasma cutters or difference of them.

    1. I have cut a piece of 7/8 with this cutter, it is very capable.

    3. This plasma cutter will cut 10" per minute with a maximum cut of 3.8". There is no severence for the unit. It has a built in IGBT inverter built in.

  2. As this unit is 220 only and not 110, can an extension cord be used without issues arising and/or what's the max extension cord length recommended?

    1. I found a 30 foot extension cord on eBay for my 230 volt, Lincoln buzzbox welder that would do nicely for this cutter. Very heavy cabling with molded ends. It cost me about $80 including shipping.
      Not pushing eBay; just pointing out that "ready made" extension cords are available.

    2. I use a 15' extension cord for my 250 amp MIG welder and the plasma torch. Go to your local electrical supply house and tell them you need to make a 230 volt 50 amp extension cord (at whatever length) and they will fix you up with the required parts. The parts for my extension cord cost about $80 and maybe 30 minutes of time to make.

    3. An extension cord could be used but you need to make sure the cord is for 230 volt and can handle 40 amps the entire length of the cord. You would need to consult an electrician for the length recommendation.

    1. you will need a 240v outlet, just about any kind of air compressor, these are very easy on air usage, and an air filter drier helps keep the consumables longer.

  6. How to make cuts

    Does the tip come in contact when using this product. If not, can you purchase drag tips?

    1. It's a standard gun - keep it just above the work surface - buy drag tips on eBay.

    2. When using, the tip will be slightly off the surface of the work piece. We do not sell any type of drag tips for use with this plasma cutter.

  7. Removing Water and Contaminants from air source

    What kind of inline air filter system would be good for the NI Welders Plasma 375 230V Inverter-based Plasma Cutter-40 Amp output.

    1. The important factor is to keep moisture out of the torch. I use a dessicant air dryer, there are a bunch around - a search engine is your friend.

    2. The dryer the air, the longer the consumables will last. Most standard inline filters will do just fine. Higher end filtration systems that remove more water will prolong the life of the consumables, but it is not necessary.

  8. How do I get a new pressure regulator for my Plasma Cutter.

    I have a Northern Industrial Plasma 375 which need a new pressure regulator. Or a way to make it stop leaking out of the pressure relief hole.

    1. I had a leak that sounds like maybe what you have, try tightening the ring collar around the regulator knob. I did that and my leak stopped.

    2. I am unaware of any way of making your pressure regulator to stop leaking however a new one can be bought through Northern's parts department at 1-800-222-5281 then pressing the option for parts.

  9. Will a 15 CFM compressor work?????

    1. My compressor is 18 cfm (60 gallon tank) and when cutting for a minute or two, the compressor never kicks on. You're golden.
