Product Summary

This utility trailer is a perfect transport solution for hauling mulch, dirt or machinery. Complete road-ready kit includes fenders! Red powder-coated steel frame houses orange side markers and rear tail lights. Black fenders prevent rocks and debris from damaging your cargo. Safety chains and lighting with wiring harness connect to your vehicle to ensure your trailer is safe on the road, even in the rain or at night. Easy assembly with basic tools. Includes 1 7/8in. coupler assembly with safety chains, approved lighting, wiring and connector, tail and turn signals, side running lights, high-speed wheels and tires, and slipper springs. You add plywood. Assembly required.

  1. Does it come with a VIN #?

    Does this come with a VIN number, or do you have to go through the process of having it registered as a home built trailer?

    1. Yes. Its stamped on a placard on the trailer. It even matches the one on the bill of sale.

    2. All of our Northern Industrial trailers will come with a certificate of origin that will allow you to register it with your local department of motor vehicles.

  2. can a 2inche coupler be put on the tounge and can the tounge be extended?

    1. You would have to find the right size tube for the coupler.Then it would just be a matter of drilling the holes. You can extend the lenght of the pipe for the application you need it for. But remember the trailer only has a 1050 lb. capacity and increasing the ball size doesn't increase the capicity.

    2. Northern Tool does sell a replacement coupler with a 2" ball. See link below for more information. Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer any type of tongue extension.

    1. 4 hole - but it is a rugged wheel.

  6. Can I tow this trailer lightly loaded at Interstate Hwy speed?

    1. I've towed mine across the state (about 300 miles) at freeway speeds with loads close to it's rated limits. All I'm saying is it can be done, I've done it.

      Make sure tires are at the recommended pressures (it's printed on the side of the tire). Check bearing grease as appropriate (usually isn't, but I've owned mine for almost 30 years). And follow safe trailer loading practices; 10% or more of the load weight should be on the trailer hitch to help prevent fishtailing at higher speeds and during breaking.

    Does it come with a vin number or reg number. I need to know for registration in ny to put a plate on it

This Northern Industrial utility trailer kit will include its own vehicle identification number and a certificate of origin will be sent to you approximately a week after your purchase, you will want to speak with your local Department of Motor Vehicles to determine if this will be enough to license the trailer in your state.

    1. Tire size, the more expensive one has 12 inch tires the cheaper one has 8 inch tires
