    2. The Mr. Heater Propane Cabinet Heater cannot be controlled by a thermostat. An external thermostat is not compatible with this model.

    3. The MH18CH is not controlled by a thermostat and cannot have an external thermostat used with it. The unit uses a spark ignition and can only be controlled by the adjustment knob on the top.

  3. CAN IT BE USED IN HOME

    1. In most places, bringing a 20 lbs or larger propane tank is a violation. Since this runs on a 20 gallon tank, it would be unwise to bring it into a closed location.

    2. While this heater is sold as a garage heater I have used it in home with no adverse effects. It is vent free meaning the exhaust is vented into the space where it's located. Just make sure your space is adequately ventilated.

  4. How long is the hose that is included?

    If I wanted to add a longer hose, which one would work best?

    1. This hose is roughly 18" long, unfortunately there is no alternative for this hose.

    2. The hose is 18" long. This Mr. Heater is designed for use with a 20 lb. tank that fit inside the cabinet only. Operating this heater in any other manner as described in the manual would be operating the heater against manufacturer regulations.

  6. One reviewser states" 1) the regulator has to be in the proper orientation or it will not work properly.

    What is the proper orientation. I see no marks on the regulator

    1. Regulator when mounted to LP bottle, bottle it must remain upright regulator will be in correct direction. Gas from tank will be in vapor form and regulator will work, if in extreme cold conditions tank pressures could become a problem

    2. The Mr. Heater Propane Cabinet Heater does not include a regulator. The regulator is provided with the propane connection. The regular should be in the upward position.

  7. Does the propane bottle fit _inside_ the cabinet?

    I have seen a style of heater in europe where the propane tank fits inside the cabinet. Does the 20 gallon tank fit inside this one?

  8. What is the elevation rating for this heater

    Most heaters with O.D.S. are limited to 4500 foot elevation. We are at about 8000'. Mr. Heater products work at higher elevations. Will this work like other Mr.Heater products?

    1. We live at over 8700 feet, and we have two ODS heaters. One is a "Mr.Heater Portable Buddy", and the other is a "PRO-COM" dual fuel wall unit we got here. Both work fine. We were told that an ODS heater might suffer 'nuisance shutdowns' because of less oxygen at this altitude. We got the portable first, to see if they did work okay. I thought I'd just open a window a crack if it did shut down, but it worked fine in the large bathroom for an entire winter (as supplimental heat during showers- not left on continually). I bought the wall unit as a permanent fixture in that room because of that performance, and it works perfectly. Another side effect we thought of because of the altitude and less oxygen might be higher carbon monoxide exhaust, but our digital readout CO alarm has never given a reading when I check it, or a warning signal. We're happy with the performance of both units.
