I have a propane running into my shop from my 500 gallon propane tank. Can I hook this heater into that line? Is there a kit for that?
-
ProductExpert9· 11 years ago
This heater can be hooked into your existing line, the heater requires 20 psi of pressure coming from the regulator. A regulator is included with the heater, as well as a 10 foot hose.

Venting requirements for propane heaters
I've seen these salamander type heaters used in confined construction areas with little or no consideration for venting.
Can I safely use one of these in a closed barn with just a door cracked?
What is meant by adequate ventilation in this case?
Propane powered hilos run in unventilated buildings although they burn comparatively little propane.
I have a kerosene heater that burns very clean that I use in a closed garage but I need more heat.
What's the bottom line on all this?
One more question as to propane supply.
In lieu of a 200 # tank can I just run a 100 foot line off a pig propane tank?
Thanks-
WK001· 11 years ago
Yes you can run a line from your big tank with a supply pressure between tank pressure and 5 PSI. Typically the 10 PSI regulator supplied free by your propane company will work fine and necessary if you intend to run the propane supply inside an encosed building. Check local codes. If you do not use the inline hose regulator supplied with the heater the typical 'house' 10 to 13 inches of water column pressure will run this heater. Fumes are not a problem, hardly noticeable compared to a kerosene or diesel heater HOWEVER be sure to use a CO detector within an enclosed building.

This heater is designed for use with ventilation. Just leaving the barn door open a crack might not be good enough for safety. Opening the door or a window or two would be okay as long as the heater is not left on while unsupervised.
The tank you are running the line from to the heater would have to be a 100 pound or larger tank.Helpful?

I inderstand that this heater has a built in thermostat, and it self ignites, but can you set your temperature like with a traditional thermostat?
-
WK001· 11 years ago
You can set your temperature but the temp control knob does not indicate in degrees. Set where you feel comfortable.

ProductExpert41· 14 years ago
On this heater the temperature can not be set like a traditional thermostat because it has a internal thermostat that it is not calibrated in degrees like a household thermostat. \What you have to do is turn the heater on, and when the temperature comes up to what you want, you dial back the thermostat until the heater trips off.

Does the thermostat dial have an off position or does it have separate on/off switch?
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 4 years ago
To turn the heater off you would close the valve on the propane cylinder, then continue to operate the heater until the fuel in the hose has burned, then turn the thermostat to the off position. See page 5 of the product manual we have listed on our web for starting and stopping the heater.
