Does the heater have an automatic shutdown?
I want to run the heater at full heat until I shut it off. Is this an option, or will it shutdown at a predetermined point?

Thank you for your inquiry. The heater does have an automatic shut down as a safety feature. If the unit gets too hot, it will shut off.

ProductExpert40· 10 years ago
There is an adjustment screw on the unit which will allow you to run the heater at full heat without it shutting down at any point.

When the heater comes on the kero is forced across the igniter and an internal fan blows hot air
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert40· 13 years ago
Forced air is produced by a blower or fan like devise in the heater which does require electricity to operate. This unit runs on standard household current, 110 volt AC. This unit cannot be operated without electricity.

is there a thermostat, and are there any fume smells
-
joca0966· 14 years ago
There is no thermostat, and all kerosene heaters produce some fumes, but not to any great extent

What is the rate of fuel consumption?
I have a two car garage and was curious how much fuel this unit would consume given a couple or three hours in a garage.
-
solarjim· 9 years ago
Not much! It will run you out of that garage in a few minutes of continuous operation. It runs 11 hrs on 4 gal of kerosene.

My son uses one of my heaters in his 2 gar insulated garage. Burns about a 1/2 gallon per hour, (8 hr run time total). Fairly quiet and minimal odor. Suggest you have door open and unit pointed outside for the first couple of minutes run time.

ProductExpert12· 15 years ago
The run time on the portable kerosene heater is approximately 11 hours on a 4 gallon tank.

DOES THIS UNIT HAVE A TERMOSTAT?
-
Bronxbombero· 11 years ago
These smaller heaters don't generally come with thermostat controls, but you can improvise a workaround. Two quick solutions #1, Honeywell sells an electric heating thermostat (CT410B) @ $25.00. It's meant to control electric baseboards and connectors. You would have to wire this to control power going to the outlet the unit is plugged into. Or if you want a simplified solution, you'll spend about $38.00 for a Lux WIN100 heating and cooling programmable outlet.

No thermostat on this small unit. I believe you have to get at least the 125K size to get the thermostat. You can check the website for positive info

Is the MH50KR heater a multi-fuel heater? Will it run off Diesel fuel?
-
cowboypainthorse· 16 years ago
Yes it will run on diesel, but it will 'blacken' the front of the heater and doesn't burn as clean as kerosene.
