This Dyna-Glo Indoor Kerosene Radiant Heater is a great choice for safe supplemental indoor heating. Perfect for use in your home, basement, garage, or cabin. Because it does not use electricity, it makes a great choice for emergency heating when the power goes out, as well as everyday zone heating. Uses only 1-K kerosene. Burns with 99.9% efficiency, 13 hours on one full gallon-tank of fuel. Automatic pushbutton ignition with simple one-touch extinguish feature. Fuel tank is easy to lift out and has an easy-to-read fuel gauge. Safety grille, cool-top design and tip-over shutoff help reduce accidents. Includes siphon pump and batteries.   1. do you smell in house? does it need to be vented outside?

    1. Needs to be used only in poorly insulated room, like a barn or garage. Do not use this in your bedroom or well insulated living room. Burning hydrocarbons indoors with no exhaust flue creates soot and CO2 in the room, which is dangerous to human health.

    2. You may notice a faint kerosene odor when you enter the room this is being used in. There may also be a strong odor for several minutes at start-up and when they are shut-off, or when it runs out of fuel. This does not need to be vented outside, however the room it is being used in needs to be well ventilated.

  2. Can this heater be turned down or can you adjust the flame in any way...adjust the amount of heat output ??

  3. If I put this in my fire place to heat my living room do I need to open the vent to the fireplace ?

  4. Can I use this on back porch. Will get a occasional breeze. Breeze would be to side or back of unit.

  5. Can this sit on a carpeted floor?

    1. The heater is designed to be used on a level surface only away from flammable objects. Carpet can cause the heater to be unlevel and tip over causing a fire hazard.

  6. Where does the fuel go in???

    1. The tank is located on the right side of the heater looking at the front of the heater. There is panel on the top right of the heater that you will open. You will then will remove the silver tank inside. Turn the tank upside down and removed the cap on the tank. Fill with kerosene. Check the gauge on the side of the tank to insure you do not over flow. Put the cover back on the tank. Turn the tank upside down and insert the tank back into the heater.
