  1. can I use a 30 pound LP tank

    I have a big buddy heater,it states that you can only use a 20 pound LP tank. I have a 30 pound tank with the same tank fittings as the 20 pounder, can it be used?

    1. I use a 10# tank, it has the same fitting as a 20#. It works well.

    3. Thank you for your inquiry. The heater is certified to be used with up to a 40 pound tank.

    4. The Big Buddy heater (see item below) can use one or two 1-pound tanks or one 20- 40 pound.propane tank. Use with any tank 20 pounds or larger (through 40 pound) would require the use of a fuel filter because of contaminants found in propane tanks and propane hose assemblies. It is strongly recommended the fuel filter be used any time the Big Buddy is used with a 20 lb. to 40 lb. propane cylinder. Northern also carries the fuel filter. See item below.

  2. Big Buddy.. hose for the 40lb LP type 1 fitting?

    Noticed the newer 40lb tank and wondered which hose assembly would fit the type 1 fitting on the tank?

    1. We currently do not have a hose for the Big Buddy that would fit a type 1 fitting (QCC-1).

    2. We currently do not have a hose for the Big Buddy that would fit a type 1 fitting (QCC-1). We do have a 5' (F273701), 10' (F273704), 12' (F273702), and a hose with regulator and quick connect 12' (F271803) that would fit the Big Buddy.

  3. If the hose has a quick disconet how does the filter attach?

    1. I thought that you do not need a filter because it has an attacked regulator. I'm using mine with out a filter and it works fine

    2. The fuel filter will work with the Big Buddy Heater but is not compatible with the 12' hose with regulator.
      The filter will attach to the fitting on the heater before the hose. Your hose is then attached to the female end of the filter.

  4. Will this hose fit other propane devices which use the small 2 lbs bottles, such as propane camping lanterns, etc.?

    1. Not likely.
      This hose will not attach to the same fitting the little propane bottles attach to, it uses a "Quick Disconnect fitting" instead of a screw on fitting to attach to the heater.

  5. Best 12 Ft Hose for Use With 20lb or Larger Tanks and Big Buddy Heater

    Should the 12 ft hose with regulator (173635) be used with 20lb or larger tanks, or should the 12 ft hose (173646 without regulator) and the fuel filter (173369) be used? What is the best way to hook up to a larger tank? Thank you.

    1. The 12 foot hose (173635) with the regulator would be the best hose to use for this heater as a regulator is required with a 20 pound tank or larger.

    1. On the regulator end, this hose has an Acme nut fitting to connect to a 20 lbs. tank. The opposite end of the hose has a quick connect fitting to attach to the heater.

    1. No, this Mr. Heater hose is intended to be used with a 20 pound propane cylinder only, it is not regulated for a 100 pound cylinder.

  9. What size is the ends of this hose? Will it fit into a 1/2" black gas line?

    1. This Mr. Heater hose has a standard fitting for a 20 lb propane tank which is 3/8 inch female flare fitting. The other end of this hose is a quick disconnect fitting to hook directly to the big buddy heater.
