When welding aluminum, AC Auto Balance® automatically provides for the optimal mix of cleaning and penetration. Adjust for any situation: cleaning, penetration and pulse When welding thicker material requiring increased penetration, or when requiring increased cleaning action to break through heavy oxide layers, bypass AC Auto Balance and adjust manually for full control. Enable the TIG pulser feature to minimize material distortion from excessive heat input. The TIG pulser can also help moderate filler metal deposition for consistent bead appearance.   2. Is this welder available with running gear that also handles gas bottles?

    1. Northern Tool does not offer this welder with the cart. This is model #K2348-10, this can be purchased directly from the manufacturer.

  3. How thick of aluminum will it weld, and cycle

    1. I got much better penetration on 1/4" aluminum by using 50/50 argon/heluim using 4047 tig rod.

    2. You can weld 1/4" aluminum material if you have the correct set up and experience. The duty cycle varies depending on the input power and length of welding time.

    I am sure it is, but I do not see where it says ac/dc tig, also, this is far more powerful than the 165, why is this welder not able to weld stainless or other tougher steel?

    1. This Lincoln welder is capable of welding in AC and DC TIG. This welder can TIG weld stainless steel up to 1/4" thick.
