  1. Can this machine tig weld aluminum??

    1. The WELD-PAK 180i MP DV is a DC-only TIG machine, which means it cannot TIG weld aluminum. TIG welding aluminum requires AC output and the optional K5341-1 Magnum spool gun.

    1. The welder is capable of welding aluminum. You would need the Magnum 100SG spool gun, item 44732 for welding aluminum.

  3. How small of an generator can I use with this welder

    1. Use at least a 3‑kilowatt generator for 120‑volt operation or a 6‑kilowatt generator for 230‑volt operation. It must be a clean 60‑hertz inverter generator with a stable 90–250‑volt RMS output, and you should allow extra capacity. Aim for about 4 kilowatts for 120‑volt use or 6 to 8 kilowatts for 230‑volt use to handle welding surges and duty‑cycle demands.
