Product Summary

The Lincoln Electric 225/125 AC/DC Arc Welder is the deluxe version of Lincoln's AC-225 arc welder. It gives the user the same traditional design and functionality of the AC-225 but adds the smoother, more traditional DC welding arc, making it an ideal choice for the farm, shop, home or anywhere improved arc welding performance is desired. It provides AC arc welding power from 40-225 Amps and a DC welding output range of 30-125, making it extremely useful as a stick welding power source for maintenance, repair, fabrication, construction, erecting and hardfacing applications. You can also use the AC/DC 225/125 for cutting and piercing holes in steel. Requires a 50 Amp circuit breaker. NEMA rated; UL listed; CSA approved.

  1. i have a 60 amp service in my shed will it be enough amps to run the lincoln ac/dc 225/125 welder

    I have a 60 amp electical service in my shed. will it be enough amps to run the lincoln electric ac/dc 225/125 welder?

    1. 60 amps is enough amperage to operate the welder. The minimum is a 50 amp breaker.

    2. Yes you have plenty of power with a 60 amp service. It requires a dedicated breaker.

    3. My Hobart can pull a bit more than your Lincoln (235) and I have it hooked to a 50 amp service in my shed. We ran 6/2 wire for the electrician. As I had no idea what I was doing at first and I never got the advice from our electrician before I bought the materials for the shed electricity, I only had the welder's manual to go by to see what I needed. 50 amp does the trick. No lights dimming around the house, no flipped breakers. Good to go.

  2. Can you attach longer leads or power cable

    2. Additional leads can be connected to the existing lugs (insulated) for up to 25 feet (using 4 gauge) and 50-100 feet (using 2 gauge). A longer 8/3 gauge rated power cord can be used to extend the existing 6 gauge power cord (with a 6-50 plug adapter) an additional 25-50 feet.

    1. This Lincoln Electric AC/DC 225/125 230V Stick Welder is capable of welding medium, heavy and thick plate steel. For medium steel it can weld 1/16" to 7/64" using a 3/32 electrode, for heavy steel it can weld 1/8" to 3/16" using a 3/32-1/8 electrode, and with thick steel it can weld 1/4" and up using an 1/8-5/32 electrode.

  5. I have a Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 , 60 Hz , with a 20 % duty cycle I would like to know what size breaker,size and type wire to run to service panel

    1. Consult a licensed electrician for any specifics, but this is an extremely common installation.

      Lincoln lists maximum AC Amperage as 50A @ 230V. Best safety is provided with a 60-amp 230V breaker, 6 or 8 AWG wire, 6/2 with ground or 8/2 with ground.

      You can run her off DC power as well, but you're probably not talking about shipboard power.

  6. Cables, Which is which ????

    I bought me one of these welders but I haven't found nowhere which cable is the electrode cable (the one coming out of the top hole or the bottom one), and which is the clamp cable? Or it doesn't matter ??? Thanks for your feedback !!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. It does matter. My suggestion would be to put the welder on DC+, and use a multi meter between between the leads. The + one would be the stinger.
      Also, the lead with the bare end should be the stinger, the lead with the lug attached should be the ground.

    1. The power cord is 6 feet. The positive and negative leads are 10 feet in length.

  10. Can this unit be operated at 100% duty cycle at a lower amperage?

    1. At AC: 225A/25V the welder will have a 20% duty cycle. At DC: 125A/25V the welder will have a 20% duty cycle. It will not have a 100% duty cycle at a lower amperage.
