This heater requires a minimum of #10 copper wire. It draws 20.9 amps and needs to be on a 30 amp breaker. A larger wire may be needed for longer runs. If unsure of the proper wire size for a specific installation it is best to contact a qualified electrician.

It depends on the distance between the unit and your electric box... I think 10ga. Would be sufficient... but I would, definitely, consult with an electrician!

What size room will this heat? Is there a formula for BTU's to square feet?
-
3krazy· 3 years ago
I am using it to take the chill out of a 740 sq. ft. garage. It has no problem taking it from 40 to 60 degrees in about an hour’s time, with outside temps in the 10-20 degree range. My garage is very well insulated, so I’m sure that helps.

I purchased the Lifeplus IFH12A-50 heater for my garage. Although the manual calls for 59Amp breake or less, my electrcian is adamant about installing a 30Amp breaker/ What is the reason?
-
ProductExpert6· 3 years ago
The electrician is correct, the heater would require a 30 amp breaker.

Electrixman· 3 years ago
He is correct. If you figure out the ratings based on the electrical needs, the basic math and Ohms law, is that Amps x Volts =Watts. 30 Amps multiplied by 240 volts equals 7200 watts. Then the circuit breaker should be working at about 80% of it's capacity. 5000 watts (max output of this unit) is below the 80% capacity.

My garage is finished is it okay to hang it to the ceiling when it's finished in sheet rock
1 answer-
ProductExpert29· 3 years ago
This heater should be mounted to a wood stud or ceiling joist. If you cannot locate a wood stud, a wood piece needs to be installed on the ceiling as this heater must be securely fastened.

Code require most 240V appliances to be wired with 4 wires now (2 hot, 1 neutral, 1 ground). Does this heater need a neutral wire?
1 answer-
ProductExpert11· 3 years ago
There will be three wires. One black, one white and one green. The white wire is connected to the L1 connection. The black wire is connected to the L2 connection. The green wire is the ground. There is not a neutral wire.
